The Ultimate Buick Regal Is Discontinued Discussion

Let's be honest; the "Buick Regal" was dead the moment it became a rebadged something else.
Hm...
The previous generation was dead? 🤔
So, the current generation must be zombies, since they are undead.

A job from hell would be the Buick Regal Product Manager right now.

Maybe someone is really hung up on an option package/color combo they can't find on a a lot anywhere...

Only new things for 2020 are the ST package for the sportback and Satin Steel Metallic replacing Smoked Pearl Metallic. So, unless someone really can't find the desired color combination and unwilling to compromise, they are better off looking for 18/19. The 19 got ionizer in the HVAC vs 18.

Does anyone really want a 2020 with a CHEVY warranty vs the BUICK warranty that the 18-19 still sitting on dealer lots have?

That was one of the deciding factors that got me to give up on trying to order my 20 after the order was cancelled.
I had to compromise on the exterior color, but got a steal at the price.
Since I sit inside the vehicle looking at the interior far more than outside at the exterior, I did not compromise on the interior and that has cost me a little more time to search.

I guess it could have been worse... if they made them faster in later years.
Making you wish you had waited for the better ones, instead of early ones being the quickest.
And then they pulled the plug on them.
Glad to have gotten one while they were available.

Old folks...young folks....yaddayadda...it's minor league engineering vs exorbitant pricing that's contributed heavily to the downfall.

I bought my CPO 2012 Regal for $25k...20k miles. This felt like a good price point for the perceived quality at the time, even considering used.

Fast forward 4 yrs....my $5k engine-rebuild nighmare aside...I cannot for the life of me see spending $40K+ on this vehicle today.

A few of us did end up spending around $25K for their new Buick in 2018-2019. I would not have bit for $30K

I thought that was the Rendezvous.

Sadly, I think a better analogy would be the Catera of Buick.
I'm surprised they didn't recycle the ad campaign and call it the 'Buick that zigs'.

Don't forget Lisa Catera for Chicago Hope (TV show) where they literally wrote a character into a show to remind people to lease Cadillacs.

Honestly, I see parallels to Saturn here. Remember how by the end of Saturn's run they were mostly rebadged Opels with GMC Acadia and Chevy Uplander clones thrown in for good measure? Replace the minivan with a specially imported Chinese homegrown, and it's the same formula. With Opel having left the nest to get married off to FCA, and the brand identity crisis caused by trying to overcome the "old people" stigma, I have to wonder how much time the entire Buick brand has left on this side of the Pacific.

I thought they were breaking out of the 'old people car' stigma in the early twenty-teens but that stalled. If they had moved on the Regal GSX or GNX rumors to build some fire, who knows. I don't see the current SUV lineup doing much to lure a younger audience. Maybe I am wrong on on the Encore drawing younger buyers to the brand?

Surprised it is not April first.... That seemed like day when GM always did somthing bad to Pontiac..
Like your V8 is history,, your out of Nascar, or we need to talk to you behind the barn.

As stated before. The only reason we still have Buick here is because of sales in China. :thumbsdow
