TourX Roof Rack

Pictures clearly showed different rails. It will not work on tourx. They are for the raised rails( like audi allroad have).

Does anyone know the dimensions of the T-track (opening width and inside width/height) on the OEM cross bars? They seem to be fairly universal between brands, but it's hard to tell from just pictures. I have track-mount kayak saddles and it would be good to know that they'll fit before I find out if the dealer can still order the rack!
FWIW, I'd search the forum for "kayak" and find a fellow kayak enthusiast who has successfully outfitted their setup, and duplicate that. Might save you some time/hassle.

For what it’s worth - the TourX I just bought came with oem roof racks AND kayak attachments made by Thule.

Another option. I just installed this tonight. Very secure, low profile but enough for the roof to open, all for $70.

I got the exact same ones, installed them a couple of days ago.
The good: they are sturdy, nice looking, low profile and mounts securely. I have no doubt that they will hold my ski box loaded with gear.
The bad: extremely noisy. They start whistling at 30 mph, and the noise becomes very noticeable from 40 mph up. At 60 mph it was so disturbing that I wanted to stop the car and take them off, but I didn't have the keys with me. I don't know if it's because of the bars themselves or the position where I installed them.
I put the front bars right behind the dimples in the rails, and the rear ones 2 inches back from the rear dimples.

Do you experience similar issues? Where have you mounted your bars?

I have a set of Rhino-Rack bars on my wife's Sorento, and they are as silent as can be. Unfortunately they don't make one that is compatible with our rails.

Did you install the t-slot covers on the bottom of the bars (assuming there's a slot there)? That's usually a big culprit. I have my bars in similar locations and don't have a big road noise issue.

Mine are a similar shape, but just behind the front dot. I see you have the rubber strips installed. That definitely helps.

I like these Cowvie's, but the noise sounds like a major issue. Is this the Pro version and also what size are you running? I want something that hangs off the side like yours is this the 53"?

Also is that a T-Slot on the top?

I purchased the 53" cowvie rack that @kopek posted.

Cheap and simple install. I will confirm that the wind noise is noticeable. I get a hum at about 35mph. With the radio on and volume low it's noticeable but nothing that I can't handle. On highway speeds the hum turns into a bit of a whistle. With the radio up I don't notice it. I'm not sure if its the rails or the mounting feet that are causing the issue. The rack looks fantastic and the build quality is great for the price.

I'm waiting for an Inno roof box to come back in stock. Curious if that will change the sound or even quiet it up at all. I might try wrapping the crossbar with a paracord or bungee for the time being to see if it changes anything. If I put my hand out the window up near the mounting foot it seems to quiet it down. With it being a universal rack the R&D on different vehicles isn't there, explaining the cheaper price tag and wind noise.

If you want a perfectly quiet ride, this is not the rack for you.

Hey all,

I’m invested in Yakima with all the locks and base systems we’ve had on other vehicles. Has anyone found what Yakima feet work with the TourX raised rails?

It can’t be drastically different than Audi’s raised rails can it?

When I was shopping around, Yakima did not have a fit kit for the TourX. So you're going to be mounting your Yakima gear to either factory, or Thule bars. There are some less known brands making bars too.

Forgot to mention that the crossbars Crispy purchased (and suggested) worked very well for me as well. Easy on, easy off; I’ve got a Thule box mounted for the odd trip, but works like a dream. Not much in the way of wind noise either, but I do see a 2MPG drop at 60mph....

@Crispy
and Rick

How do these compare in terms of wind noise vs the Buick/Thule?

Buick/Thule are very easy to install remove adjust width
