Has anyone figured out how to remove the terminal block on the positive post so the battery can be removed? It's not obvious how it comes off. There is a nut that loosens the post clamp but the block doesn't seem to want to come free even when that is loose.

Good info to have...on my third battery so I am expecting to have to replace it several times outside of the warranty.
I might be there now. Mine has started to charge at constant 14V +/- where it used to be around 12.5-13V with occasional time at 14 V then it would drop back. I have the GS cluster and I have that V gauge displayed all the time so I noticed it right away. That's pretty much a sign battery is headed south from what I've read here.

Yeah...sounds like it could be kicking. Mine also stopped ASS just before death. But it could also be the AC, I have noticed when I increase the fan speed when I have people in the back the voltage goes up. Put it back in auto and voltage is normal. So maybe I am headed towards another failure or this is "normal." Hopefully it is the later.

I have the RangeTech so I haven't had the start stop operating daily for about 2 years, I pulled the RT just to see and if start-stop still works and it still engages. I also regularly use a Battery Tender if car sits for more than 2 days. I did start it up on Saturday and got some weird thing where it reset the temp display to Celcius - that's never happened before but I didn't think much of it until this thing with the battery voltage showed up.

Does anyone else chuckle a bit when someone puts ASS in their comment? OK, maybe that's just me. Now back to the Chipotle conversation....

We cannot resist looking at our DICs or hating our ASSes while driving. As for Chipotle, I love everything on their menu except their new queso - tried it and I think it’s absolutely disgusting.

@FavaBean
Famous quote: Moral of story? If your ASS stops working, watch your DIC (double entendre NOT intended).

🤣

I still need help getting my battery off. I’m not inclined on this one.

Undo the fasteners on the black metal battery hold down bracket and remove bracket

Undo the silver bolt you see in the battery tray on the right hand side (as you are facing the battery) and remove bolt along with plastic hold down piece

Disconnect negative terminal under the black plastic cover on right side of battery (as you are facing it)

Follow pictorial instructions in post 2 of this thread to remove positive terminal block and position out of they way.

Lift battery out

Installation is reverse of above.

My ASS hasn't been working for a few months, so I figured it was time for a new battery. Last weekend it was charging at 15v.

Thank you so much for the illustration and the instructions. I'd hate to be stuck in a parking lot somewhere trying to do this. My battery cover had an extra wiring harness clipped onto the front, I assume for some optional equipment. To get it off, put a flathead screwdriver in the clip between the cover and the harness and press toward you.

The way they (GM) show things in the repair manual can be a bit confusing. But in the image posted, step 4 is to loosen the pos. terminal nut (1). The number in parentheses refers the number in the image. Step 5 is to lift the plastic clip on the side--which is number 2 in that image.

I didn't post all 15 steps the GM manual shows for the battery replacement, since most of the steps are easy enough to figure out--but the 'loosening' of the positive terminal (it isn't as obvious as the negative terminal) & that 'hidden' fuse block clip on the side needed that image.
