What did you do to your Regal today?

New color on the wheels. New system set up. Added a 3rd sub and a new 1k amp for the interiors.

I changed the Oil and Filter for the first time in almost 3 yrs. of owning my Regal.
Yes, really!
This was the First Time I had done it Myself since buying it in August of 2019.
I normally take it to the Dealership that our son works at, but with Inflation
I just couldn't afford the $70+ it was costing for an Oil Change and Tire Rotation.
I've only put around 7,000 to 8,000 miles on it in three years and this is around
it's 8th or 9th Oil Change during this 3 year period.

This is something I can do myself, as are most repairs.
When I bought this car 3 years ago the world was a different place and things
weren't so expensive.
I had decided when I bought the Regal that I was going to take it in for Oil Changes,
Repairs, etc... instead of doing them myself.
I'm 60 yrs. old with Major Back & Neck Problems, and I really don't need to be
crawling around on the driveway.
But it looks like I might just be back to doing Oil Changes & Repairs myself again!

I only had about $32 in this Oil Change, Pennzoil Full Synthetic 5w-30 Dexos, w/New AC
Delco Professional Filter.
The Dealership uses Mobil 1 5W-30 Dexos and the AC Delco Professional Filter, but
I was having trouble finding the Mobil 1 locally that had Dexos.

I've got a Question for DjDom20111
With all that equipment in the trunk, how will you get in the trunk to use the Emergency
Release Handle if you're unable to open your trunk?
I have had to Crawl into my trunk 3 times so far to pull that handle, my Trunk wouldn't
open using the FOB, Trunk Release Button in Drivers Door or the Release Under the Buick
Emblem on the Trunk Lid.

So my neighbor bought an AWD GS a couple years ago cause he really liked mine. He stopped by this weekend and gave me a set of these LED door lights. It’s something I wouldn’t buy, but since they were free I installed them. They actually look really good.

I've got some of those LEDs on mine, but mine don't say Regal.
They looked really nice at first, but over time they've faded.
You can still see the Buick Emblem, but it's just not as crisp
and clear as it used to be.
It's not the LED Light that faded, it's the Plastic Film that the
Buick Emblem is on that has lost its color.

Washed my car today in 92° temps, not sure what the Heat
Index was, but it was hot out there.
I have to park my car on the street, my wife takes the driveway.
Anyway, when I walked out to my car today, I found that one of
the Lovely Neighborhood Kids last night had taken a Paint Marker
and marked my car, Orange, I think?
It took a bit of work, but the Dried Paint Marker did come off!
I don't think it did any damage to the Clear Coat or Metallic Paint,
but it sure did Pi$$ me off!

Here is one I got from Amazon

Cheaper at AliExpress if you don't mind waiting about a month for it

It’s getting to be close to winter detail time. Would you guys strip the wax off and start new if there is a good coat already on it? The bad boy shines and has several coats of sealer and ceramic wax coat already. I’m having a hard time deciding whether to strip it down or just add another coat??????

Sam14GS,
You did get screwed, but in your case, it was only 1/4 screwed! 🙂

Rickisrad,
I think as long as you still have a good shine, that a New Coat would do.
Guess it kind of depends upon how bad the winters are in your area and just how much you drive it in the winter.

The thing I did to my 2012 Regal GS this week is I sold it. I sold it because the motor is blown, and I am not sinking another $6k into this car. My repair shop was in the process of repairing a defective injector, which had resulted in that cylinder being full of gas (liquids are not compressible), which is what probably did the engine in. While the compression test looked good, and the motor still could start, it made terrible noises and would need replacement. I bought this car with 72k miles on it in May 2018 and it ended up having somewhere in the 10x K mile range at the end. My Regal had nice road handling, looked cool, had incredible power, and I enjoyed driving a stick. But all the maintenance issues, particularly for things like replacing the headlight assemblies which should not have ever been needed, made it be not be a fun experience for me. So it was time to move on.

I really appreciate the help that many of you have offered on this board. For the headlight assembly replacement in particular advice from others helped me find a much better replacement product than otherwise, and find it sooner, and helped me understand how to install them in the simplest and lowest-risk way. I wish you all the best experience with your peculiar and sometimes wonderful Buick Regals.

One of the things I did on my 2012 Regal GS was to replace all 4 wheels and tires, using 18" wheels so I could have tires with almost-normal sidewalls that would not blow out so easily. I still have the 4 GS wheels and tires. I of those 4 GS wheel rims is bent - driveable at local driving speeds but something you would want to fix, and there is curb scarring on at least some of the rims. If these would be useful to someone and can pick them up in person (north-central NJ), make me a reasonable offer via PM.
