WTB: TourX Roof Rack

After reading this thread I think I’ll just bite the bullet and get the Buick ones.

I bought some Thule Aerobars. I did have to change my cargo box mounts from a quick mount clamp to t-bolts to allow the sunroof to operate with the cargo box. The Buick bars are tall enough that I wouldn't have had to do that. But the Thule bars make less noise and the tighter fit looks better.

I’d like to possibly add a Thule rack to my 19 GS, but had a couple questions first. I see the Thule one offered by Buick uses the 53in Wingbar Evo cross bars, I’d like to use 50in bars like the Yakima racks that Thule uses. Does anyone know if I can buy the kit in pieces and simply use the 50in bars from Thule with the rest of the kit that Thule offers?

Im not a fan of a large amount of additional bar hanging out over.

I just put this on my TourX..... it has virtually no noise until 55-60mph and even then it is not intrusive of annoying. It is available in several colors, I think they look great in black. The price was right, too.

Are the the mounting brackets on the cross bar suppose to fit in the dimples on the roof rails? Looking to install a set of Thule cross bars on my tourx but I had my roof rail vinyl wrapped in black and I can't see where the dimples are.

The dimples in that regard are for the OEM racks for their mounting locations. I don’t have knowledge on what aftermarket will do. None the less you can mount them just about anywhere on the rails.

I have Thule bars. They do not use the dimples and can be moved around on the rails. Although I use the dimples as a guide anyways.

For the front rack, the rearmost dimple is about 3 inches in front of the rearmost edge fo the glass. For the rear rack, the rearmost dimple is about 4 inches in front of the rear edge of the glass where the rubber piece splits the 2 pieces of glass on the rear door. See pics where I have my index finger and pinkie touching the dimples

Did you install the wind deflector? - can't quite see how that attaches...
Also, is there a width adjustment, or do they just come in a width that fits the TourX just right?

There's a pretty noisy hum from these on the highway. I'm thinking RhinoRack Vortex bars might fit these mounts, though...
