2013 Enclave has 1 annoying problem

this is not the reflection of the blue amient light. that light can be turned off. This a glare from outside lights like driving under street light or now that its getting nice the sun from certain angles. It's a bright orange streak that goes right in your field of vision. Anything that distracts a driver while driving is dangerous. Customer Service from Buick us useless. they said the car is "functioning as designed" and that no one else but me has complained in "all these years". The dash has not had this ambient light and shiny wood to reflect for "all these years" its new. Someone from the dealer suggested covering it with electical tape. I spend $50,000 on a car to run electrical tape around my dash. Surely GM must employee at least 1 engineer to give a solution to remove the shine. I would take sand paper to it myself but its a lease. I've been a loyal GM customer for over a decade. Looks like my next vehicle will be an Audi. Over something so stupid that they refuse to call a flaw.

Everyone in this post who owns the Enclave with the problem really needs to bring it in. GM made it very clear that they will not look into anything because I am the only one who has complained. GM Customer Service's lack of concern for the problem is almost more frustrating then the problem itself.

We have been driving our Enclave 3 years and 50000 miles now. I have never seen any reflections on the windshield at night. There is a very slight refection of the top of dash when it's really sunny out. But I see that on almost every car.

BTW, I think the Enclave is the best looking SUV period.

It's just a lease? Why not just cover the dash with one of those dash carpet covers and be done with it? Hope the Audi doesn't have any flaws. You do know it will cost you about twice the price.

jbish,
You can contact me as well with more details including the last eight of your VIN and dealer name for more assistance. Thank you.

Tricia, Buick Customer Service.

Go lease a different vehicle if it bothers you so much....I've occasionally notice the reflection with my 2013 but it's not a problem for me....

Jimmy - This is new with the 2013. They added shiney wood trip and a shiney light strip to the dash. Street lights reflect off of it. Trust me I loved everything about my 2010.

When we receive our Enclave, the first thing we are doing is taking it in and getting matte black vinyl placed onto the shiny plastic part that reflects. I would hope that GM follows through with the people that have brought up this concern. It IS a distraction and can cause people to pay less attention to their surroundings.

Hey guys, why beat a man down for making an observation. I and i do believe, jbish are trying to help out here.

If I get a resolution from Buick I will certainly pass it on. I want to make sure anyone with this problem gets it fixed not just myself.

OK, I finally did see what you're talking about. I noticed it today when the sun was overhead and slightly behind the car. Noticeable, but not something that bothered me much. Yes, it is the shiney plastic below the ambient light strip. If they had just made the upper lip above the light overhang just a bit more, the problem wouldn't be there. I think it could be fixed with perhaps a thin strip of something like black electrical tape along that shiney edge. You could probably take a razor knife and cut into a roll of tape to make a narrow strip of tape if it isn't something that you could buy at a hobby shop.

Buick Customer Service seems helping in the public forum. All they wanted to do was schedule an appointment with the dealer for me, which I had already learned on the phone is all customer service will do, schedule appointments. Didn't take long for them to say they still aren't doing anything. "I have reviewed your case. If there are new developments in the situation with your vehicle, I would be happy to assist. However, if there are none, the resolution will stand at this time." By resolution they doing nothing.

orion thats it. In the winter when its dark early driving at night under street lights it is much more distracting because it is a bright glare that goes across the windshield. If you drive on a on a long street of street lights every night it can really bother you. Especially if you get migraines. I'm always afraid after too long of looking at it. The dealer explained to me that they had a similar problem with plastic on the dash of another year reflecting when it was sunny. He said that they washed the dash with dish liquid to remove the shine. Thats all they need to do is remove the shine. The frustrating part is that we shouldn't have to use tape or carpet or anything they should look into the problem. That is why I will not buy a GM vehicle again after over a decade of GM vehicles. Because of their lack of concern about a problem and customer service.

I get my Enclave on Saturday. I have already told the dealership about my experiences before we take delivery. Glad i get it this weekend, saved $1750...😀

Any one have a problem with the head rests being to far foward, if so has anyone solved the problem,
There is a button on the headrest that allows you to move them back. It is on the side of the headrest and if you puch it in you can move them back, flush with the seat.

Im glad someone wrote in on this, I just got my 2014 iridium metallic enclave convenience pkg. i saw what you considered "a cracked screen" too me it looked like a spider web across the windshield, except that i couldn't pull it apart! Right now i m living with it, the car is just amazing and quite pleased with everything I got for the price (lease price, that is).By the way I dont think it has anything to do with being tall....im 5'10 and its totally noticeable.

That also is a troublesome item for me. I have back problems and need to adjust the seat back rather upright. The head rest, even when adjusted to the rear most spot, would cause a slapping action on country roads. I reclined the seat back down to allow greater ceiling clearance, then removed the head rest, rotated it 180 degrees and re-installed it. It is now back far enough to not slap me. The problem with this fix, is the head rest now slides rearward with no indexing stop. Oh well, we all are difference and have different needs.

As to the lights reflecting on the shiny forward dash area... perhaps a bit of matt anti-reflecting static cling plastic sheeting is in order. A pair of shears and a few minutes to trim to size, a soft towel to rub into position may be all that is needed to affix a cure. (just thinking out loud on this..)
