Xm satellite radio reception problems

Have a 2016 cascada having issues with the xm radio dropping the signal. Really love my vehicle but not happy that I am paying for a radio subscription and cannot use. I think this is a Buick issue because my wife's Honda works just fine!

I have a 2011 Buick Enclave and I have been experiencing a similar issue. The OnStar Service and FM Radio work fine. I would be listening to XM and all of sudden it would fade out. I would lose the signal for an extended period of time. It has been intermittent ever since I bought the Enclave in 2013.

I have a 2011 Lacrosse and my wife has a 2015 Enclave. My Lacrosse has no issues with XM reception while driving the same route as my wife back and forth to work. My wife's 2015 Enclave drops reception 5 or 6 times per trip. My wife is considering dropping the XM Radio and trading off the buick since she really likes XM. I will go down the path of arguing with the dealer but this one seems obvious to me.

Dont argue with the dealership you will better results talking nice and if no help try another dealer.

I wish I would of found this board sooner. I have have these same issues since we bought our 2016 enclave and I reported it several times to the dealer as well as XM. Neither are able to fix it...dealer says nothing they can do its xm. XM refreshes the signal and the problem still exists after 2 years of complaining. Within the last month or two it has gotten increasingly worse....how do I get a new antenna?bc no one will listen to me on either end. Also I dont feel if I'm outside of my warranty I should have to pay being as I reported it so many times! Right?

and reading all these comments I see the Buick has made no Headway and resolving the problem mine is a 2018 same problem dealer told me it was a wire leading from the antenna to the radio said they ordered a new radio same problem I see this is an ongoing problem with Buicks had I known I would not have purchased this vehicle this is Factory equipment that is malfunctioned and has been to the garage more than four times I'm thinking that I should research the Lemon Law in Pennsylvania

I had the same issue. Here is how I fixed it.

Enclave XM Signal Loss | Buick Enclave Xm signal Fix

After extensive research and an expensive OEM antenna replacement, I found out that the OEM antenna runs 3 devices. On Star, am/FM radio and the xm module.

I came up with the fix above and has worked flawlessly. No more dropped signal!!!

Hope this helps.

I used jergraphx method and have the same positive results. I had one of these antennas in my old Dodge Ram and when I switched to my Enclave I experienced signal drops from trees (with leaves), cell towers, and even on cloudy days. Now that I have switched my signal is more like what I had in my Ram with the only drops being tall buildings and occasional overpasses. Haven't had any low ceiling clouds yet to verify that improvement. I have not ran the antenna permanently as I need to do further research on accessing the rear panels but the current placement seems okay but the antenna wire runs close to hatch motor gears and hopefully it doesn't get caught up in those. Thanks jergraphx for the link it helped out greatly.

I have the same problem with my 2015 Enclave I bought used last year. It dropped radio signal frequently and then recently quit working altogether except for occasional spurts. I would like to try this fix but don't have a clue how to run wire outside to antenna to keep it from being caught in the hatch or how to hide it entirely. Can you explain how this is done?

I have a 2014 Enclave that I bought as pre-owned. We registered my vehicle as replacement for my Ford Escape. The XM worked flawlessly for the first 3 months. Since the beginning of June I have had sporatic service or no service. Today we turned the radio on and had reception. After church no reception. Frustrated I called Sirius and after a CSR failed to resolve the issue I waited for a manager. She told me it's not an adapter it's a module. Yet I can't get any info on a satellite module. I've been given the run around repeatedly. I'm curious about your post about tge OEM antenna. Can you helo me with where I get one and how do I get it installed?

I still have not ran my wire "permanently" neatly hidden and my "temporary" run is more and more becoming the permanent fixed. I will try to post some pics in the next couple days of my run.

jergraphx provided links to materials and pics where to locate the satellite module. He posted this on March 21, 2018 on this thread so you can locate the post easily. After using his fix a few months, I have experienced improvement in reception but there is still room for improvement. I think I would side with CSR you spoke to that this is a module or head unit issue. I know SiriusXM sells a module that I really doubt is compatible with the factory unit. I think down the line I will replace my factory unit but to so you need SiriusXM satellite module and possibly one or two other accessories so that all the steering wheel controls still operate. So not ready to go down this road quite yet and the decent improvement using an OEM antenna is good enough to push it even further down the road but I am sure getting rid of the factory module and head unit would give me the experience I have had and continue to receive in my other vechiles. Check out jergraphx post, the OEM antenna will be the biggest cost (~$25?). I wonder if your area's foliage kicked in after the first three months spoke of? I didn't have too many issues besides cell towers during the winter months but once spring came and the tree sprung leaves the issues increased. With this fix the issues have decreased considerably but again not perfect but I'll take it over the cost of an aftermarket setup.

Here are some photos of my run. I numbered the photos in hopes to establish an order. Jumped inside the rear panel by moving the molding then worked my way down that panel. The hatch gears are in that area and I have somehow avoided them. Figuring out how to remove these panels would allow for a permanent run but so far this is working and I have no plans just yet to move on.

I have a 2015 Enclave with XM radio no signal problem. I have refreshed several times and called XM. No positive results. I finally just cancelled the service. To bad because I liked XM. Especially when traveling. My 2012 SRX works great without any problems.

I am experiencing the same satellite radio signal loss problem as JuliaMc, but my dealer won't do anything about it. They say it is normal, according to a Buick technical bulletin.

I have the same problem and recurved the same responses! Wish I would have found this forum earlier

Jergraphx, based on the info you'd provided and the website, I did some experimenting when our XM suddenly went perma- "no XM signal" yesterday in our 14 Enclave, with no change after radio refreshes. Short version of story is after removing the yellow Fakra plug from the antenna, I ended up using a 90-degree plug magnetic antenna from an old Sirius radio I have around and it popped into place on the XM module in the jack space and a few seconds later, I had Andy Gibb blasting way too loud over 7 for 70's. Not sure if it's going to stay attached without the Fakra clip on it, but a short drive around town and so far, so good. A strip of tape over the plug will hopefully keep it stuck in well enough for regular driving.

Prior to that, I had verified that the Onstar worked and the digital radio seems fine, so, it's just the XM portion of the antenna feed that's the problem.

Do we know if this is mostly an XM only issue or do the other two devices also suffer independent failures, but I don't know about them because I'm not looking for radio or Onstar posts in the forum?

Also, when it is the XM portion, do we have any idea if it's the actual antenna itself or is it the run of cabling that connects from the antenna plugs and goes through the ceiling cover to the various modules? If you watch this about an antenna replacement on an '11 Equinox, you'll see what I mean.
. I'd go for replacing the whole antenna, but don't want to do that to just find out it's a break in cable harness from there to the module in the hub. My '14 has the middle seat belt in the ceiling back there that the Equinox in the video doesn't and I'd rather not have my wife mad at me for taking the ceiling apart unless I know pretty much for certain that the antenna replacement will fix it.

So, for now, I guess the magnet antenna is going to stay on the roof.

Im having the same issues and so im going to listen to everyones advice and get a magnet antenna 🤣. Had XM refresh several times with no luck. Mine said NO XM SIGNAL. I hate that we all had to come to fixing this issue ourselves this way. Its a shame BUICK cant do "anything" about it 😑

Hello JuliaMc,

I can completely understand how frustrating this XM radio concern must be for you, especially so new into your vehicle ownership. We’d be more than happy to look into this situation, please send us your VIN, contact information and name of dealer at your earliest convenience.

Best regards,

Anthony J.

I purchased a 2016 Cascada in June. Could not receive a Sirius signal. Sirius tried hard to help me but finally said it was an issue with the car. I returned to the selling dealer and they diagnosed it was an issue with the antenna wiring. They installed a COMPLETE antenna system and that did the trick. Lucky for me it cost me $0. I'd suggest you visit the dealer and good luck.

I have a Buick 2020 Envision which I purchased new less than a year ago. The XM worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. I only have 8000 miles on it. I have called and they have reset it several times and it works until I turn-off car and turn it back on. So frustrating! Any suggestions?

FIXED IT ! My 2016 Envision started having REAL bad (cutting out) reception on XM stations. Went to Dealer who said Ya.. a lot of them are having trouble. GM is working on it "Possibly Software Problem" .. I went home, ordered a new Factory Replacement antenna. (The Fin Antenna in the back roof) Replaced it myself... A Monkey with a 10mm wrench can to it.. (Took 15min.) WORKS PERFECT! No reception problems, No cutting out, AND now when I go from channel to channel on XM it is instant, no delay to hear the new channel. Hope this helps someone.

Interesting, my XM comes in fine but my FM is terrible. Anyone have a solution?? Dealer said sorry..
