TourX Roof Rack

Sorry for the delay. Weather and schedule issues. I just set it up there for the pictures. Bar spread is ~30 3/8” (front inside to rear inside). I am not sure how much a fairing would reduce the noise. Have not ran it with the bike on there yet. The wind isn’t really bothersome at 75 mph. Below 65 it isn’t noticeable.

How are those crossbars tied down. I assumed they would go over the lip on the rails, but yours clearly are attached above the lip.

Thanks.

I just set it up there, but yes, they have hooks that clamp into the external ridge of the rails.

That's what I was hoping because I didn't see anyway that you didn't lose your cargo the first time you hit 4th gear.

Haven’t tried these on yet. 2018 TourX. Christmas present for my wife. eBay from China for $120. Very simple and clean. Will post clearance and visuals later...

Mounted these tonight. They are width adjustable so you can put them at any location. They are low profile but the sunroof still clears by an inch or so. The sides taper in and I like that more sleek look. They were cheap at $120 and will do what we want which is hauling sheets of foam, random lumber and whatever. No bikes or kayaks..

Your crossbars looks shorter in length than mine. I might have the machine shop cut it down a bit more so it's more streamlined

Got the same ones... here they are installed at factory positions. Did you install the rubber strip on the bottom? Any way to do that without taking the entire thing apart?
Front view...

Yes I did and yes you can. You have to pinch it and get it started in the track and then when you push on the middle is starts to mush in. You just continue down the track until you get to where other stand. There will be some gaps between the end of the rack and the feet on the outside of the stands when the rack is off the car due to the keyed covers not being installed. But when installed, if trimmed correct, the gap is minimal.

Thanks. I am not planning on having them on unless I need them. Hoping that the rubber strips will keep the legs close to in place when it’s off.

also, without the strips, very noisy even at 40mph...well That and I think I have them in backwards.🙁

I have the Thule aerobars also, and I only put them on when I need them. I used to leave them on all the time on my previous vehicle (Mazda CX-5), but they're too noisy on the TourX.
It's hard to tell from your photo, but yeah, you might have them on backward. The fat side should point forward. They're designed like an airplane wing.

Yours are backwards.
Yeah, I realized as soon as I looked at them again. Just a brain fart. I got the rubber strips in and them turned the right way and they are much quieter... but still not quiet enough to leave on all the time. They are easy enough to install... and with the rubber strips set, they don't have to be adjusted so they are in my shed waiting for an opportunity to shine.

Where did you source these crossbars from, Crispy? They look just like the EBay-specials that I received this morning; unfortunately mine will not fit at ALL! The lengths of the bars are wrong and the clamp angles are wrong too...decent looking and sturdy, but cannot use them.
Will be returning them ASAP...

Can you provide me with the EBay item # or vendor name—I need a set!

eBay Item# 283241512539. $125.99
After our first highway trip, I can say there is slight wind noise but it’s not too bad. Not bad enough that my wife cares to take them off. I might if we were going on some extended, multi-day cruise. Also just an FYI.... those wheels are 2018 LaCrosse I got for snows. They were in perfect condition for $125 each at a local junk yard (prob don’t call’em junk yards anymore).

Excellent! Did you have enough adjustment available to bring the rear crossbar forward a bit? I see yours is mounted very close to the antenna; I would like my rear crossbar to be about 12’’ forward of the antenna, but not sure if there is enough length available on the crossbar itself...
Any idea?

Thanks

Pretty sure there is. I moved my front more forward today; centered between dimples on the inside rail. I have the aft one so far back to protect the antenna. I thought sheets would not flop and hit it if the support was close. Also, I moved the front forward because the rails drop as you move forward. I hoped this might make sheets of whatever pitch up at the rear, creating more clearance for the antenna. I think they’ll Adjust to whatever you’re trying to do.

Sheets of what?
