Best tires for your Regal

Best replacement tire set you had already tried on your Regal?

I think I am thrifty...wife calls it cheap...but I won't cheap out on unknown tires or brakes. There are very few things in a car that can get you seriously hurt and those two are not worth the risk IMHO. Not sure if I would even sell it like that. Way back when I had my LGT I had set of snows a guy wanted to buy off me even though one tire had a slight bubble. I didn't sell them since I had the feeling he was just going to drive on it.

I've been happy with the wear. 27K with just a little bit of wear. I don't push it too hard on the twisties, but I am a stoplight warrior.

They are also looking a bit more like Swiss cheese with all of the flat repairs I've done - no doubt nailmagnets.

I have really good tires on my vehicles that is from several brands. The best tire choice is very rarely about the brand itself. I buy what appears to be the best choice for the specific vehicle, for its specific use, at that given time. The "best tire" also changes yearly as new improvements are rolled out. Tires I would have recommended a few years ago I wouldn't recommend as the best purchase now. Tire recommendations really need to be personalized for a single purchase.

That is the right mindset.
Never cheap out on the tires as those are (normally) the only 4 points that your vehicle touches the road.

Great...that means mine may be old enough to be replaced (10 years) instead of reaching the end of mileage life. My last brand new car had under 60,000 miles after 10 years.

Swapped out the OEM quiet tires (foam lined) for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 last fall. Better handling. No mileage penalty. Great braking performance wet and dry.

Cornering improved? What about bumpy ride? I tried Pilot Sport A/S 3 on my previous car and they were way too harsh. I ended up returning them. But they do handle great.

Cornering grip was vastly improved with a lot less plowing in general. Due to the relatively soft shock tuning of the TourX, I haven't noticed a huge difference in the bumpiness of the ride.

I've started gathering contenders for when my OEM Contis bite the dust which I expect to be not far off. Those Contis were good the first year/10k miles, even in 6-7" of snow. Not the case after that. I lean toward long life with solid wet and dry handling vs. a summer set (I don't like the hassle of replacing tires every season/ every few years) which puts me mostly in Ultra High Performance All Season category. After watching several Tire Rack videos and reading some user reviews, here are my current picks, not in any order:

BFG G-Force Comp-2A/S

Conti DWS 06 - I've had these on my S2000 for a few years, they are a good mix of performance and wet traction, I don't drive it in anything past light snow so no comment there.

Cooper Zeon RS3-G1

General G-Max AS-05

Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 - these very much have my attention as a good mix b/w performance/durability/price

Mich Pilot Sport A/S3+

Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus

Pirelli PZero All Season Plus
 
BFG G-Force Comp-2A/S - is the one I've been eyeballing. I like the idea of a directional tire on something with an AWD system as sophisticated as this one. I also like the high silica tread compound. I had some AT tires on my old F150 and my 4wd Highlander that had a high silica compound and they were phenomenal in the snow and ice while sacrificing nothing in the wet and dry. I prefer the closest I can get to a truly all-weather tire so I don't have to worry about storing or installing snow tires.

The bonus is that they are one of the brands carried by my local independent tire store and they're more than happy to order anything they don't have in stock. They can get it in 24 hours.
 
I have the Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires on my Regal and I love them. They rate the snow traction pretty low but I have no problem starting off in the snow with the all wheel drive. I have always put Bridgestone, Goodyear or BF Goodrich tires on my cars and these tires are right up there with those brands.

I read a review of them on a Mustang GT and they performed very well. So I put a set of them on my Regal and they are fantastic. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I had these on my '97 Lexus SC300. They are fantastic.

I've had two sets of Conti DWS-06s, on a '15 Honda Fit that I autox'd, and on my '17 Chev SS (Holden Commodore). Great grip, especially in the wet, but both sets got really noisy after they got some miles on them (10-15K). I put around 40-45K miles before having a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ installed (I ran dedicated snows in the winter, btw). They were almost 'rumbly' by that point and were unpleasant to drive on.

As it relates to summer tires, I had ContiExtremeContacts on my 135i. Tires were excellent for performance and initially appeared to be a strong value. However the rears did not last...and I got around 12k miles out of them. FWIW I did have the car tuned (nothing crazy - around 400hp), but I had better longevity with Michelin’s. Currently running Nitto NT555 on my Porsche 981 - great value, tires are good for performance...to soon for me to tell on treadwear.

Good info, thanks! I only have about 5k on my DWS and they were on my list for the TourX...but probably not after reading that, ha.
 
Nitto Motivo is great all-season mid-range tire. Toyo Versado Noir is more comfortable than Michelin Premier, but they dislike cornering. If money is not an issue I would go with Michelin Premier, best all around tires I ever tried.
