A/C off due to high engine temp

Use a computer and click on the Manufacturers Communications, they are the TSB's. You can not search by subject, they are grouped by systems and there is no HVAC it is lumped in with others.

What does the TSB say for the fix?

I had this problem intermittently. It was solved by disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor connector and spraying it with electrical contact cleaner (deoxit). Reconnected it and everything works as it should. Finally getting consistent readings on coolant temp and ac works. Hope this helps.
Do you know where the coolant temperature sensor would be for a 2014 Buick Verano? Thanks

I figured out this issue on my 2010 lacrosse. It only happened in the winter time for me. As soon as I had warmer temps the issue goes away. Pay really close attention to the coolant level. You cannot see the exact full level really well, it looks to be at level however Inside the overflow is a sensor. If that sensors is exposed at all you get the error. I literally added about 8 ounces or so of water to cover that sensor. Problem went away on my next drive and has not returned so far. Good luck

I have a 2015 verano it has now been in the dealership 5 TIMES. I get it back 2 days later same problem.
Engine fan Keeps running and ac off light back on. This is obviously a Buick problem. Is there anyone who has resolved this problem?

Note: it came back again after about 3 weeks.

I do appreciate that! I’ll check it when I can. Bigger problem now, my starter just croaked. Im over this crap already

My starter went last week. Now I'm having the same issue. My dash is saying engine hot a/c off. I've put over 2000 in my enclave over the last year. Now my motor mounts are bad.

Yea it has happened like that occasionally, now it’s just constant now. Problem now, no ac, summer here in FLA, you know the rest. Then when the alert comes on, how do we ultimately know if the engine is getting too hot? Good thing the fan kicks on though. I just want it to be over at this point.
I've had the same issue before swapped out thermostat sensor and now it's back. But my fan continues to run after I turn off car and open door, etc.

Did you resolve this issue? I’m having the same problem

Found out the problem. It wasn’t my starter that went out as initially thought to be. It was my battery. What was going on, anytime I turned my car off, the cooling fan would continue to run as if the car was hot. Due to the cooling fan continuing to run after the car is turned off, it killed my battery, 2 batteries at that. Took it to dealership and it was determined that the coolant temperature sensor CONNECTOR had “melted” and had to be replaced. The repair was about 160. The diagnostic fee was 135. So far it seems to have solved the problem. Knowing what I know now, I would’ve tried to have the connector replaced first, then go from there.

I am having the same problem. Did you purchase the connector online or local store?

16 Verano. My temp gauge has been fluctuating recently. Within the last week I’ve gotten “AC off due to high engine temp” and the gauge stays on the “cool” side. I first replace the thermostat, then took it to autozone for the obd and it pulled the code for the coolant temp sensor. Just got finished replacing that. I’m still getting the same alert. Took it to autozone and hooked it back up to the obd and had the worker attempt to reset it, but the code is still there along with the alert. Don’t know which way to turn now
Would you be able to update how you ended up fixing this issue? I have a 2012 Verano and it's doing the exact same thing you described.

I think I found your fix you posted a few weeks ago, after reading further. Still, can you let me know if everything's ok since then?

Hi I'm having this same problem, I started hearing the fan still running this Monday and today(Wednesday) it gave me a message that said Engine Overheaed-Idle Engine and the temp gauge went all the way up to Red, do you think it's maybe the same thing?

Can you tell me where the coolant temperature sensor is located? Having the same issue and trying to fix it.

Try disconnecting the battery for a reset

This just happened to me 2 days ago.. my 16’ Verano 2.4 gave me the “ac off due to high engine temp” msg, my temp gauge didn’t work, and my efans wouldn’t shut off.. after some reading it all pointed out to a faulty temp sensor.. I had replaced this sensor about a year ago when my ac compressor clutch went out.. I decided i wasn’t gonna spend $35 on a new sensor that might not fix the problem so I went to my local U-pull and got me a couple sensors and a sensor connector while I was there.. I got home, put in another sensor and didn’t fix the problem so I cut into my connector and wired the new one on and this fixed the problem.. my car is back to normal my issue was the stupid connector… the one on our cars are not buick specific, GM has been using the same sensors and connector on 90% of their cars since 2003+… if y’all are having this problem and can’t find the issue don’t overlook the connector

I had this problem with a 2012 Chevy cruze. Replaced the water outlet hose and new clips. Kept blowing the clip off and had coolent everywhere. New after market hose and clip assembly, everything was fine. Also Replaced both sensors in the thermostat.

This really should be on a RECALL. We now have this very same problem for the 3rd time in less than a year and a half. On our way to bring the Verrano in AGAIN

Same issue when I cut the car off the fan stays on I have a 2011 Buick Lacrosse

Same problem 2011 regal 2.0t. Replaced temp sensor and damaged connector. Car came back with the same problem. I let it run for like 20 min or so and it went back to normal. Spoke with a friend about it and he thinks it may be a pcm bcm communication issue. Temp gauge doesn't show temp but live data on scan tool does.
