Locks have stopped working

EDIT: Should also mention that neither key fob unlocks doors. Press unlock on either one and the parking lights blink, but nothing else happens. And interior lock buttons remain unresponsive with either fob.

Ugh same thing just started happening on my 18 white needle @ 22k miles
 
GM seems fascinated with electric motors when simple levers and cables would work. Our late-model Corvette has electric switches for the doors themselves, never mind the locks. Dead battery and the doors won't open unless you find the temporary plastic key they gave you, use it to unlock the rear hatch, crawl in the hatch and find the door release on the floor under the driver's seat.

Or, you know, they could just install a regular door latch like we've been using for a hundred years. Nah, the electric stuff is better. God forbid you're in an accident that shorts out the electrical system and the car is on fire and you need to get out fast.

Someone should be fired for not making the fuel door release manual. Are they going to pay for a new one when I have to pry it open with a crow bar to put gas in the car so I'm not stranded?

What the deuce, GM? You used to be cool.
 
Got my car today, new gas tank door. It wouldn't open period. Lock seemed to be working, but the detent wouldn't let to door pop out. Under warranty. New one has no door lock, just the push to release detent. GM calls it a "vehicle enhancement". Or, "fixing what we f'ed up".

This is good news! I don't want to live with the locking fuel door once warranty is up

Did it come pre painted ?

Just curious, did it resolve itself after a few days? Was there moisture involved - heavy rains, car wash, etc.? I'd guess you have the same issue I and a few others had...they replaced a gizmo in my driver's door to fix my locks not working [if I recall correctly -been a while]. Hasn't been a problem since the fix.

It was still not working intermittently, but happened to be in working condition when I took it to the dealer. They said there was a code for low key fob battery. So they changed the battery and released the car back to me.

That was a month and a half ago and the issue hadn't recurred since then, until yesterday. It'd rained heavily the day before and when I went to unlock the car in the morning, same issue. But it started working again 10 minutes later as I was on the phone making an appointment with the dealer

Yeah mine usually took from a few hours to a few days to dry out and start working again. Let us know how the dealer appt goes, good luck. Should be an easy fix.
 
Did anyone find out what door or grommet is leaking my dealer is being no help at all on this issue of the door locks stopping with the fob and buttons inside the door

The dealer invoice that was posted showed the problem to be one of the connectors on the BCM. Not sure if there was also an issue with the door connectors.

This is the first time I’ve seen this thread, but I’m glad I did. A couple of things to note… Dielectric grease should be standard protocol in areas where moisture is known to accumulate. Kinda funny to see they added some to the connector only after it had corroded and shorted. Secondly, I have a 2018 red needle and my fuel door is manual. I’m wondering if a previous owner may have had this issue and they replaced the door? The electric door wasn’t part of any option package was it?

The electric door is part of mine it’s a 2018 base model red needle

Sorry I forgot to mention this, but if you want to take a look at the door connectors for yourself and you have a multimeter to test continuity, I can give you some tips on removing trim. You may want to wait for a response before doing all of that, tho. If you look towards the bottom of this thread on page 2, someone posted a dealer invoice identifying the specific connector that had corroded pins. I’d start there.
 
I had this happen to me a few weeks ago at a gas station. The app did not work to unlock either. Started working again after a few minutes.

The secret key you refer to - is it the one in the fob? What if you don't have a fob, as in you lost it while out, and need to get in and start your TourX?

We used to put a magnetic hide-a-key box under the wheel-well, if you "mis-placed" your keys, you reached up under, grabbed the box with sparte key, unlocked the door, started the 'ol Skylark

I'm not in that situation now, or have been with this 2019 TourX, just planning for contingencies.
 
Took mine to dealer last Wednesday and they couldn't replicate the problem. Told them about this post and to check all grommets and BCM connections related to the doors. They basically said that GM dosent have anything on the books about this issue so listening to random people off the forum won't be taken advantage of as they know best. Basically the tech had it all day and concluded it was all in my head and I was hallucinating

Well when i went out to the car I noticed that they had just washed it as there was a water trail coming from it in the parking lot leading to the dealers carwash. "Watch it not unlock" I told myself. Walking up to the car i noticed the car was already UNLOCKED,,,hmmm,, messing with the fob did nothing,,,, LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK! Not inside or with the fob. Fearing i was suffering a stroke and seeing things again I ran back in and found the last service writer left at the dealer, (it was closing time) and dragged him to partake in my hallucination. He saw what i was talking about and was shocked. He was even more shocked when after 5 minutes it started working again. He said he would let the people i was working with know that he too was now having the same hallucination as I and that the car obviously suffers from a curse....

Anyway on the way home the locks would work and not work randomly. I took a video of it and sent it to the dealership. They where still more shocked upon seeing the video and scheduled me to bring it back again Oct 8th.

I hate when people think they know better then me and disregard any and all possible options.

The thing I find irritating is that they said they had run it though there car wash a few times that day while trying to diagnose it. Well if that was the case wasent the car already clean, why run it through again and park it? Im betting they didnt actually even get it wet when the tech had it and it was washed at the end of the day when i came to pick it up. Grrrrr

There is a picture of a dealer invoice posted towards the bottom of page 2 on this thread. Print it out and take it with you. Since they won’t listen to you or any of us stupid forum users, maybe they’ll trust the findings from another dealer. That invoice refers to the specific connector that caused the problem and it lists what was done to fix it
