New ultra owner

My LeSabre is a Limited. I, though, have a pragmatic mindset.

I removed the terribly underwhelming auto-dimming inside mirror and replaced it with a manual flip mirror. It's darker, it can be flipped any time of the day or night, it's quicker, and it stays there until I want or need to change it.

I prefer cloth as well. It's warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and you don't slip-slide around on curves or when braking.

I do love that everything is power-assisted!

I hate the overly-complicated headlight switch that takes actual control of headlights away. I have not yet discovered a means of simply turning off the auto-on feature to completely turn them off if I choose to. At night, the best I can do is press the Parking button to kill the headlights, but there is no way to kill the parking lights themselves. Add to that the complexity of 2 sliders that do "something", with one of them being able to turn the dome lights on. And for true overkill, the dome lights do not turn on in the daytime! Wow, there's a lot of wizardry going on for no real purpose. What purpose is there for turning on the dome lights only when the car thinks it's dark enough?

Lots of room under the hood to work on things - LOVE it!

Battery under the rear seat - HATE it! The trunk would have been a better option.

AM/FM radio antennas in the rear glass and the front glass. Nice touch!

Rear defog grid does not extend to the top of the glass, nor in front of the CHMSL. I realize that dashcams were not the thing back then, but my rear dashcam does not benefit from the defogger. Not defogging the CHMSL is just the oversight of engineers who don't think about safety.

I'll stop here...

Overall, I really like my Les!

One slider is for the interior lighting and the other one controls how long your headlights stay on once you remove the key so they indeed do something!
Battery under the seat is a nice clean environment for it and doesn't infringe on trunk space.

Thank you for explaining the sliders. The information I had read was not quite as easy to understand. I appreciate it.

I agree that the battery stays cleaner and doesn't infringe. Being that it also does not have to contend with heat from the engine bay, that's also gotta be a plus. I find it odd that they'll put a hood and even gas lift cartridges above the engine and the trunk, but the rear seat still requires it to be unsnapped, dropping the seat belts down into the cavity, and then having to lift them and get them sorted before reinstalling the seat. I feel that they should have also made the seat tip forward on hinges while keeping the seat belts in place, making the seat act like a "hood", since you need to access that location to maintain, inspect, and/or service the battery and fuses. In my mind, it could have been a single pull tab that releases the seat to slide forward enough so that back of it will clear the back cushions, then hinging forward to access that compartment. But that's the pragmatic mindset in me. They put it under there, then didn't finish the job of making it accessible without fiddling about.
