Shift to park message

Did you install this "GM Harness 84733196" module? I bought it proactively. My Tourx has less than 17K and the error started once,
It looks like I will need to install a harness and brand-genuine Japanese Omron switch.

Yes that is the harness I installed. As an engineer I'd like to know more about what the harness does and why it supposedly fixes the issue. I had my doubts. Doubts confirmed in my mind.

I know that link, however, I can't find the model of this particular switch.

‎D2HW-A231D‎ is close but not the same

I don’t know your specifics but if it’s just the lever that is different, change it with the original. They do come off. I had to do this with a limit switch on a power recliner. Everything matched spec wise except the lever.

Building by the code table D2HW-ER231H the one in your first set of pictures would seem to be the short post, right hand side, simulated roller
lever with solder lugs?

The D2HW-BR231H looks very close, however, has a simulated roller hinge level where Regal's lever has a triangle on the ending. The level can be swapped from the old switch.

The access to the switch on Insignas/Regals is very difficult requires major disasembilng, I will to have Malibu, GMC Terrain style gear shifter.

I ended up getting mine fixed at the dealer. Thanks though!
What did they charge, if you don’t mind? Just starting getting it on my 18’ Sportback, 110k miles.

Mine was still under warranty when it happened.

Just had dealer replace the "Shift Control" today. The "Shift to park" msg was getting to be an everyday occurrence and hard to get rid of. The original (see Picture) was part# 39171639. They replaced with an updated version 39224646.
Part $225.70, labor $450. was glad I had a 10% off coupon.
All is well now, hope someday GM does a recall and reimburses those of us that paid out of pocket.

Waaaaaay too much for labor. For anyone else having this issue, just purchase the shifter and DIY. I replaced mine myself. It took about 1.75hrs total and I even got a 7cent refund (found in the crevices after removing the panels lol). Difficulty was probably 4/10 only because it was the first time I had removed those panels before.

I also bought a new shifter part# 39224646, not a used one since this will fail soon too.

Just replaced my shifter assembly with the newer part - took about three hours, start to finish. No error messages!

Just purchased 39224646 for my 2019 Regal GS. Hope this solves my problem. I really appreciated the discussions around the switch itself (I’m highly technical - especially in electronics/controls). But I’m not sure I followed if we aligned on an actual part number. I went the expensive route. LOL

My messages aren't being approved but putting this here in case it does someday.... I've confirmed that this part fits and fixes my issue. Probably about 2hrs from teardown to reassembly. Not too difficult if you've taken apart interiors of newer vehicles. I did pull apart the old unit. I think the switch is likely fine. To me, it looks like the shifter itself gets a little "sloppy" over time. I feel like it doesn't always move forward enough to make good contact with the switch. I'm guessing a few wraps of electrical tape or shrink tubing around that switch's "arm" would probably fix it. Maybe even slightly bending it outward a bit.

How many miles do you have on your vehicle?
