biggest complaint about your LaCrosse

There are way more things to like about my 2012 LaCrosse than to dislike. But there are things to improve.
1) The width and placement of the A pillar is a safety issue. It creates big
blind spots and I find myself constantly bobbing my head when turning
corners or driving in a parking lot.
2) The Easy Exit works great but the Easy Entrance does not. You would
think the entrance steps would be just the reverse of the exit but not so.
Before you get in the car you have to unlock the door even if it is already
unlocked. Then the seat starts to move forward before you get in. This
is just a programming problem that Buick did not get right.
3) My biggest complaint is with the USB music programming. ID3 tags are
not shown in the INFO screen, files and folders are not played in order,
the standard ASCII sort sequence is not used, it takes way to long to
index each time the ignition is turned on, and the system looses its
location in the sort index, to name just a few of the problems.
4) Rear visibility is terrible. Without backup sensors and/or a backup
camera this car is an accident in the making.

3) Gear shift is placed too far rearward (You can't rest your hand on it comfortably nor is it easy to use the manumatic funtion without contorting your elbow
4) Lack of storage

Beyond that, I love the car. Gas mileage sucks but it's a 4100lbs car so I didn't expect it to be good.

You do know the center armrest slides foreward a bit? I use OnStar, no need for GPS.

My biggest problem with the '12 LaCrosse would be how the wheels are not flush with the fender. Due to this the wheels kick mud and dirt directly onto the doors. One heck of a mess to clean, and clean almost daily. They are trying to target younger audiences but it doesn't mean we got the backs to do this everyday!

You could try an after market wheel with a different offset that would bring the wheel flusher with the fender. I have been looking at a set of Vogue VT372 for a different reason but the offset of the wheel makes it flusher to the fender. My concern is that with todays cars it is almost better to stick with OEM tires and wheels.

I don't have my LaCrosse at the moment to go look at the 'flushness' because she's in the body shop getting a new windshield and having some scratches painted. That said, I do wash mine pretty frequently and while there is some spray along the door but I would say it's fairly minimal. I guess it can get a bit 'cloudy' down there, but since I wash it every week or two it's never that bad. Might be cheaper to try adding the splash guards than changing out the wheels. I had them installed right after I bought the car so I can't actually speak to how much of a difference they are making. The wheels have to come off so I paid the dealer to do it, I paid $100 for the parts and $100 to install. A little pricey, but I like them.

All in all, I am quite happy. I am at the young end of the Buick demographic. I still get comments about the Buick being an "old man's car", but those who drive it tend to reconsider their preconceptions. Compared to a Lexus, I think the Buick is extremely appealing.

I am glad you like the car. I love this car. To me I now have a car that is fun and comfortable. All the others I have owned have just been fun. Since I am an old guy (55) I would say something witty but my false teeth just fell out.

I can't remember seeing one of these on any of my prior cars, at least in the last 20 years. Perhaps they were a bit more common when working on your own car was more prevalent than today.

Given the engine reliability and complexity of today's cars, I imagine the importance of under-hood lighting as a vehicle option (or standard equipment) has gone down considerably.

I take this as a positive overall. The fact that owners don't need it is a good thing.

Also, now-a-days, there is nothing to actually look at under the hood other than the beauty covers.

I never found those underhood lights to be useful for even checking the oil level. I barely could find the dip stick handle in the dark much less be able to read the oil level. I remember always seeing the guys pull up the dip stick and then turn away from under the hood trying to find some light source to be able to see the oil on the stick.

Looks like the 2014 Impala will offer +2 hp, adaptive cruise, and the 8" Nav screen for less than cash than the current LaCrosse. I'll have to assume that the 2014 LaCrosse will be updated enough to out-do the Impala and justify the higher price tag (I'm guessing the Buick will definitely have a the nicer interior).

My 2002 Sonoma Crew Cab has one...

About the only compaint I have regarding our 2011 Lacrosse is visibility. It has big blind spots to the sides. Shorter people complain about not being able to see when riding in the back. I wouldn't know though...😛 I can't complain about the mileage since I knew what to expect when I bought it.

That does not sound like it came from the image of an old man as the typical owner of a Buick much less the LaCrosse. What drove a parent(s) of three in car seats to buy the Buick LaCrosse?

i actually have 4 kids nine and younger even two car seats are hard to get buckled in. they fit just fine in the booneville i had. this car i thought was supposed to have more interior room. guess not

He does have two good points. One it is difficult to buckle three car seats in the back. Two it is a classy car. The Lucerne would have been a better choice for the seats. The Enclave would be even better.

Still I am sure they still like the car. It just goes to show that the Buick team has hit its mark with this car and the marketing.
