Buick Regal Sports Tourer project

A very high class and beautiful looking build - love the attention to OEM when possible. Springs give it a nice stance - can you feel any difference on the turn-in?

Wonder how the black would look with the black trim available on the Insignia.

That long "chrome line" that follows the windows from the A- to D-pillar on the TourX is probably my second biggest gripe with the car's design (first being the cladding of course). Sticks out like a sore thumb on my red. I had been contemplating on vinyl-wrapping it black, and seeing the car in that video seals the deal.

Plastidip is an option, depending on the level of gloss you (don't) want. Apparently, there is such a thing as black-out trim tape. You could also get it painted, although that's a more permanent solution.

And yeah, that black trim looks great.

Thus far I don't mind the chrome brightwork. Like where you're going with that black though. Please start a new thread with pix when you get it done.

Rori, any update on the seats? I am probably most disappointed by the stock seats so this might be my first change.

The seats don't appear like they are going to work.

I visited a dealer today and the tech seemed doubtful they would work, but was willing to try at first. He was going to wipe the seat control module and then flash it as if it were a TourX seat because that was the only seat program compatible with the TourX vin, but then they got nervous about liabilities and decided not to do it.

So when I got home I decided to take the Seat Control Module off of my TourX seat and install it on the GS seat. The Seat Control Modules are the same part number. That still didn't work, the seat doesn't do anything. It's as if it has no power.

Did the seats come from that flooded vehicle? If so did they work in it? Maybe the motors are shorted from being submerged?
They worked in the GS

Great build thread. Thanks for posting. A couple questions - How's the ride/handling with the new springs? I'm curious how many hours a body shop might charge for the install of the springs - how long did it take you?

The springs ride really nice. There not too stiff. If anything I wish the fronts were a little stiffer, but it's a much better ride than the Prodrives on my Saabaru.
It's probably a 3 hour job. The rears are quick and easy. The fronts would be faster if you had a nice strut compressor, I only have some cheap spring compressors.

I wonder if you could use Op-com with a dongle to suck out the GS programming from the various modules to then download into your tourx.

Have you noticed if, since lowering your headlights “cutoff” line has changed height? I was wondering how the car would react to lowering springs since the front and rear suspension have height sensors for automatic headlight adjustment due to changing load conditions. It might look at the difference front to back and make changes where as if all have changed, the system is fine with it.

I've got a set of Cascada wheels showing up this week and the H&R springs are on order. Now i just need to find a wrecked Sportback in Dark Moon Blue......

If you're wanting the Regal GS style fascia, you'll have to get one painted. Darkmoon Blue is not a GS color option unfortunately.

Yeah at the moment I think I'm just going to console myself with a GS grill.
