I've been looking at wheels for the TourX for a while and have noticed that a lot of the wheels are exactly the same across brands. I guess that is to be expected with wheel companies buying generic cast wheels from a mass manufacturer. I've found that the vast majority of cast wheels weigh a ton, some at 35+ pounds. I'm looking for performance along with looks. I don't want to add to the unsprung wheel weight.
I've found a lot of wheels are available for the Regal if you go to the wheel website and do a bit of investigation. What I think is occurring is that the wheel configuration on the websites doesn't really account for "custom" wheel configurations. Also a ton of misinformation about 5x114.3 working on a 5x115 and websites listing the Regal with the wrong bolt pattern. CARiD pretty much refused to order the correct lug bolt pattern saying that the 5x114.3 works, so I refuse to buy from them.
Guess I'll be paying a premium price (~500 a wheel) to get a forged wheel with the correct specs and a decent weight. Visualization of one of the wheel choices I an considering. 20x9, 35 offset, 255/35 R20 tire. The inner sidewall to the suspension and frame is: 0.15" closer, the outer sidewall is: 0.55" farther out, tire diameter difference is -1.1%, +7 revs per mile and only ~22 pound per wheel.
