K&N drop in filter recommended for GS owners

It sounds pretty good, its definitely more audible... tried it on a quiet street with both windows up and windows down. If the radio is on though, you'll probably have a hard time hearing it that often.

I don't how anyone is going to get better gas mileage with this thing installed!! I found myself getting on the gas harder just to hear it spool up.

I agree with you here. Put it in this am and went for a spin. You can hear the spooling and BPV dump slightly more than before. Its not loud. I like it and agree that having a reusable filter for $48 is worth it. Pays for itself over time.

Still wish someone made a BPV that was adjustable to dump in the air, not back into the intake. There's just something about that sound...

Glad it sounds better. Should I get this filter before the tune or after or does it matter? I won't be able to get the tune until late this year.

My Saab 9000 has the K&N OEM filter replacement and it also recirculates the Boost back into the intake side of the turbo and you can definately hear the boost dumping pressure. It sounds awesome. I'm not sure what the Buick will sound like but I'm sure it will add some volume to the boost dump.

I got one, have used K&N stuff before. I would say the sound on the intake is slightly more noticeable now under hard acceleration... Some good (like turbo spool), but now I also hear more of the air rushing through which almost sounds like wheezing 😛

Overall not a huge change, but probably worth it.

Between the K&N drop in filter, removing the stock mufflers/resonator and installing the Borla muffler, there is definately a noticeable increase in the noise from the turbo spooling up and releasing.

To atest how quiet our cars are, I honestly didn't understand how you all were hearing the cars spool up and Reade with this filter.....until!!!! Today, while driving back to Fort Dix, it was in the 60's, so I had the window down. Man, you can here the waste gate release. It's not loud, but you can hear it. Roll the windows up.....nothing!! I hope somebody makes an aftermarket one that is louder.

Forge motorsports made a nice bypass/Diverter valve for my old vw passat 2.0 turbo that had an available spacer that you could adjust to blow off into the atmosphere. If it was too loud, you could turn it down. We need a company to develop this for the regal...I'm getting impatient waiting for aftermarket parts.

That is weird that you cannot hear it with the windows rolled up. I find that is when you can hear it the best.

just put it in--damn torx screws, tho i suppose it could have somehow been more difficult to install.

i drove it around the block and heard more of a sucking sound, but nothing crazy. maybe i would need more seat time. either way im glad i did it. will post more about it later

I am surprised you did not mention be able to hear the turbo spool up and release. In mine, I can hear it no problem.

Yeah, I only hear the turbo spool up and release with my windows down. Another testament of how quiet the interiors are? But after hearing it, I want it a little louder now!!

It is was the opposite for me. Now after changing the exhaust, the turbo can definately can be heard no problem either way.

Hopefully I can get some more money soon to some mods!!😀

I've been thinking about getting a part time job so I could have some mod money. Then I usually come back to my senses, usually.😉

Just installed mine... Definitely more pronounced turbo whistle (which I think is pretty cool)... And, just like with my other cars I've installed K&Ns in, better throttle response (which is what I generally do it for). I don't think the HP gains are ever noticeable... I've been averaging 24.5 mpg, we'll see if that changes any.
