The Ultimate Buick Regal Is Discontinued Discussion

So I have a rhetorical question....

I've seen some folks either here (or on the facebook page) stating that they are waiting for parts. Some have been waiting for 3-4 months with no resolution other than wait.

Will GM extend the factory warranty (to those effected) since they are NOT able to drive their cars due to GM's lack of part(s) availability?

Either - it's an appearance package. Might as well put them on a car that actually looks good.

Looks like the 2020 is a recycled rim from the 2018 LT, but the 2019's design is not my cup of tea.🤐

I like the 2019s better. But I'm leaning toward finding an "dark bronze" aftermarket wheel.
Meanwhile, I am really leaning toward something OEM that is a direct fit for the winters. 😉

Thanks GM

You lost a loyal customer because you will offer NOTHING that appeals to ME.

1977 Buick Regal - 1st car as a jr in HS. I hated it but it was big and safe. I wanted a Triumph Spitfire.
1984 Chevy Monte Carlo SS - 1st new car after graduating college. Friends had Camaros and TA's. I liked sportiness w/ roominess.
1986 Buick Grand National - Because Intercooled Turbo! Enough said.
1991 Nissan Sentra SE-R - Fun little go cart that I bought to keep the GN mileage down. I couldn't kill this car!
1994 Buick LeSabre Custom w/ Gran Touring pkg - Nice big, safe, roomy family car with an unbreakable engine.... not a mini-van guy.
2000 Regal GS - "The car for the Supercharged family!" Great driving car with pep and an unbreakable engine. Oh yeah....34 mpg too!
2008 Buick LaCrosse Super - V8 rumble with Buick Style. Another great driving car (factory Bilstein Shocks) that surprised alot of eurosedans.
2014 Regal GS - Great looks, superb brakes and handling and another great driving car that still turns heads! Very under-rated car.
202x ???? If you spot the trend here it would lead to a 2020/21 Buick Regal GS. Now, who knows?

I'm not a truck guy or a pony car guy and I wouldn't be caught dead in a middle-age-crisis-mobile Vette. I commute 250 miles a week so I need something roomy and engaging. I fill the car once a week with the best gas possible and that works fine for me.

Ford, no.

FCA, never.

I have multiple SUV's to choose from in my household for driving in bad weather so my car can stay in the garage.

The Genesis G70 2.0T Manual is looking pretty sweet and the price is right in my wheelhouse.

Thanks GM

The G70 is a sweet ride but dang it’s small inside. My stocky 6’+ frame just doesn’t fit well. Figures.

Maybe GM is killing all these sedans to launch some electric ones in 2022 or so....but I am skeptical. Very skeptical.

And very few who wanted an Impala/Regal/Cruze are buying a Cadillac.

I've recently been thinking that an electric car might be a good option for me in the next 5-7 years. I would totally buy the VW ID Space Vizzion.

I'm sure they're watching and are jealous of Tesla's success in the EV car space with the S and 3. The problem for GM (and others) was that they didn't sell out on electric like Tesla did. For them, it was a side project until Tesla proved it could be viable.

Got my eye on the VW Space Vizzion and/or new microbus.

Hope VW actually does it and it isn't all just talk....

We still won't know how viable until the government subsidies run out on electric vehicles and the in home charging stations.

Vizzion seems interesting to me too. Lots of details forthcoming but like what little I have seen thus far.

It is more than mere jealousy of Tesla's success. In Europe, Tesla is hugely biting into luxury automakers new car sales (Mercedes, BMW) while severely cutting those autos resale value and residuals. They are feeling it in the pocketbook and understand the writing on the wall.

I'm just gonna drop this right here.. Hyundai Sure Is Happy Ford And GM Stopped Making Cars

The idea that there isn't a market for "cars" is BS. IMO Ford and GM simply didn't want to put forth the effort to have a vehicle that could compete with Hyundai, Toyota, or Honda. Its gonna come back and bite them..possibly soon. Short sided business decisions to please stockholders vs a long term viable business strategy...

Cars are not selling. Do you see the foreign makers are all building more and different cross overs and suvs to compete with the American's. i'm a car guy, since the early 70's. Big Impalas & Caprice's. I could travel with my family of 4 and carry everything I needed. Not with these cars today. In 08 i owned an Impala SS nice car to small. Now I own a Lacrosse and an Enclave. The Lacrosse is my daily, The Enclave is for golfing and travel. Have you tried putting a set a clubs in these car of today. My daughter drives a regal GS nice car. Could not dream of putting 4 guys with clubs. These new cars don't meet today needs as far as I'm concerned. Sorry, Im old school, don't want an electric car. You guys buy them save the gas for me.

I Just made appointment for my second TourX oil change/service
Banks in Concord is largest GMC/Buick/Chevy dealer in state of NH. They are without one TourX in stock. Several hundred Trucks, total of 26 Buicks. Buick is a dead Brand.
I'd lean towards a hybrid, especially one that can roll +20 miles on electric.

Is it the only GMC/Buick/Chevy dealer in a large city in the state ? Only dealers with those brands around here, are in small towns like Pahrump.

As you can see, it is about 1/3 for each of the 3 categories. (Cars, trucks & SUV/Crossovers)

If I actually break out the crossovers, the numbers are not that much higher than cars.

Want to know the true reason why the Detroit 3 gave up on the cars?
The average transaction price difference of a similarly sized car vs crossover is the main culprit.

Let's take the Cruze Hatchback (choosing this for the utility) and Equinox (1.5L turbo FWD for fairness) for an example since they share their platform.

Building a fully loaded Cruze on Chevrolet's website, and its MSRP is $28,580. (Similarly equipped sedan is slightly cheaper)
Try the same thing for the Equinox, and its MSRP is $37,750. (The 2.0 turbo FWD is $40,450)
Of course, we know it is going to be an apple vs orange comparison, but the general idea remains the same.
