Trifecta Performance Tune

I just tried my first tank of E85. Well 3/4 of E85 AND 1/4 93. It was 52 cents cheaper here then 93 and my 0-60 dropped to 6.7s from 7.2 and I forgot to put it in sport mode. We'll see how the MPG changes.
Is the a difference running 93 octaine vs. 87 on the stock tune? I don't know if there is any E85 around me.

My mpg dropped from about 27.5 on 87 to 21.5 on e85 with no tune and no real noticeable difference in power... Although I haven't measured 0-60 time

I didn't see any difference between 87 and 93 on the stock tune but others have had issues with 87 I think.

I figured that any gains would be minimal, without a tune. I've got a Cortex, but I have to wait for SuperChips to get a tune ready for our cars. The engineer I talked to said the were doing the HHR SS right now and they got 48hp increase out of the automatic tranny, more in the stick, but he thought our cars would net similar results. :headbang:

I've run 87 since the day I brought the car home back in July. I put a tank of E85 in last Sunday but have not noticed any performance difference.

Just ordered my Trifecta Tune on Saturday morning...Looking forward to next weekend!

I am also leaning toward the TriFecta tune. I have about 8500 mi. on my T07 CXL Turbo. Cant find E85 around my area but, I did note a significant difference in performance when I started running 93 regularly. I am averaging about 24-25 (90% city) and I enjoy getting-on-it every chance available. Looking fwd to added HP/Tq.

When ordering there are these options;

Torque Mgmt Delete (Auto Trans)
Speed Limiter Delete
Increase shift firmness
High flow / no cats (OFFROAD ONLY)
Engine swap into different vehicle
Disable 1 to 4 "skip shift" (V8 only)
Set up for 180F thermostat
Set up for 160F thermostat
Cruise Control Trigger (2.0 turbo)
Traction Control Trigger (2.0 turbo)
Raise boost to 25-27psi (2.0 turbo)
Tune for E85 fuel only (2.0 turbo)
Tune for both E85 and gasoline (requires EZ Flash - add $100)
LNF Budget tune (2.0 turbo only, no datalogging)

Will keeping Torque mgmt have a big influence on the added torque and hp?

Also, it appears as Traction Control Trigger can be used instead of CC?

Most if not everything you listed does not apply to the Regal tunes. Trifecta's order page is generic and it's lists every option they have available across the board.

I was reading about the type of gas everyone is using. I have a 2012 GS, the dealer put 87octane in it, after i ran the first tank through, i checked the owners manual to see if it required premium, it says in the manual that vehicle should be run on 91octane or higher, ive been running premium. ive been getting 22mpg on 93.

i am driving a 2011 Tuned Turbo....I had been running only premium- 93, then elected to try regular - 87....I have experienced no change in MPG or Performance. Ideally, I would prefer to run some of that corn fuel through this E85 machine but, can't find it anywhere. I have read articles and posts from other "tuners" about running high octane Ethenol (90+) and they swear by it. Good milage and burns super clean ?

I've been running e85 after I burned through the 87 the dealer filled me up with. Occasional 93 octane if needed.

Trifecta recommends 91 if you are tuned,

Is it even safe to run 87 on a trifecta tune? I've been afraid to even run it.

Not safe with the increased boost. You are increasing the risks of detonation which could cause catastrophic engine damage if the ECU is not able to adjust enough. All to save a few dollars a fill up....

E85 is HIGHER octane than Premium (91 and 93) - do NOT run 87 octane in a tuned turbo.

Buick recommends premium gas for the regal GS. The computer can adjust some but don't risk engine knock or worse. Play it safe and shell out a few more dollars. If you have a tune you would be shooting yourself in the foot by using 87 octane. You won't be getting the most from your tune.

24 mpg in my Regal GS with 6 speed manual and Tune Inside. This is down from the 26 mpg without the tune. The only fuel I run is 93 from the Vermont fuel stations. We have no E85 in Vermont. In fact we have some stations that have 100% gas, not this 90:10%. We eat our corn here in Vermont, rather than burning it in our cars. We know the scam that the E85 is. It is a scam people, don't forget that. Good old Dinosaur blood for our cars.

I am still concerned about my warranty... I don't want something unrelated to go and they blame the tune. Even if I put it back to factory they could technically see the recent flashes?

From what has been posted on this site and others, they can see the prior flashes. However, it appears GM only asks for the 10 prior flashes if the complete engine is being replaced not for other parts or transmission. YMMV
