What did you do to your Regal today?

I couldn't take it anymore!

My solution to fixing the soot buildup issue on my Regal GS.

It wasn't cheap and it sort of solved two problems (3 if you count weight) at the same time.

I sketched up a plan and submitted it to my local muffler guy. I said the suitcases have to go, so with a swift slice with the sawzall the whole assembly came down as one giant, heavy unit.

The '14-up GS comes with a 2-1/2" to 2" y-pipe. They welded and bent 2-1/2" to the back that finishes with flush turndowns in the factory location. I left the after-cat resonator intact.

In hindsight I should have left the metal natural but they talked me into high-temp matte black to look more stealthy. I'll put up a better pic when this blast furnace heat subsides.

Soooo,,,,,

1. less weight (~50#)
2. no more soot on the ornamental finishers.
3. better sound with some authority. Not too loud and you can really hear it on GS mode downshifts. Not ricey in any way which is what I was trying to avoid, but a deep rich tone.

Happy so far in the short ride home. The craftsmanship is top notch and the price reflected that.
Funny thing is the shop owner asked why I didn't want the pipes through the slots. When the car was back on the ground I showed him why.

I have not seen another set of these wheels in person. Probably because I am the only one stupid enough to pay $475 a wheel. LOL... I ordered this car and the only chrome wheels from the factory were the 7 wide spoke wheels for a $1000 so I bought it with the standard wheels and bought these at a later time. They do not charge the $50 core charge on a accessory wheel like they would on a factory supplied wheel. Center caps were about $20 each.

Nice and their even OEM. I like the way the spokes protrude from the hub...it adds a serious depth and wider dimension. I have the seven-spoke chrome 18's on my PremII, but experiencing the inner lip corrosion--common on these wheels--which is causing an ultra-slooow leak in one of my wheels/tires. I keep an electric tire pump in my trunk for a once or twice a month fill up when pressure falls below 32 psi. I'll get someone who knows what their doing to sand/smooth out the corroded inner lip of the wheel at some point. Until then...Happy Motoring!

Went for a little road trip and did some hiking. Snapped a good picture on an old wooden bridge while there wasn't any traffic.bridge.png

I must say it looks like they did a good job. Are you getting any drone at highway cruising speeds?

No drone at highway speeds although I was worried it might.

It has a nice deep tone and a little pop between upshifts when I give it the beans.

Very happy with the outcome. Should have done this years ago.

When I bought my corvette it came with a flow master exhaust, at first it was neat but since I liked highway cruising it was not for me. After a while I found the original cat back exhaust for it and returned it to stock. After an hour of drone it was not fun.

Today I finally removed the left taillight and sealed it with silicone. Would always get some condensation after it rained. I used air pressure and soapy water on the seams and sure enough the bubbles appeared.

Not bad at all.

Did you see signs of water leaking/dripping anywhere around the taillight in addition to the condensation?

I had condensation in the backup section and upper section. No dripping or water leaking out. When I did the air pressure test with soapy water, the bottom section of the housing had all the bubbles. I silicone sealed the whole thing. I tested the right taillight and bubbles appeared around the same section on the housing. Sealed that one too.20200719_174610.webp

Glad you found a solution!

At 4 1/2 years old, I had to replace the battery. I put in a AC Delco Gold. $183 put it in myself.

Nice job! I like that beige color...don't see too many out here in the East.

Finally got around to cleaning and waxing my rims, good wash and used Meguiars 3in1 Cleaner/Polish and Wax.

Those sure would look nice on my Regal.
But I'm not sure if my Back or the Tires & Rims could take the punishment of the Roads around here?
Summer is almost over and they still don't have the roads (Pot Holes) repaired from last winter!

They fix roads around here just to tear them up the next week.
Then instead of fixing the part they tore up correctly, they do a Sh*tty job and leave it that way!

I'm afraid to buy nice rims like that for fear I'd find one of those holes.
I'm careful when driving, not hitting the pot holes.
I can't say the same for my wife, she hits every pot hole out there!
Luckily she never driven my Regal, actually she never been in my Regal!
