Buick Regal Sports Tourer project

H&R 28717-6 are the springs I ordered. I'm waiting on them to arrive from Germany.

The dealer said it wouldn't be a problem to reprogram the seats to the car. I just need to find some time to do it. I'm out of town this week so it's going be be next week before I get to it.

Thanks!!

Which springs did you order? I am trying to decide myself, and I LOVE your car sir!
With the poor excuse for roads in our town I need the TourX to have more suspension travel than a Ford Raptor.
Air lift should have been an option. Tomorrow I take the Forester to work.

Ok so now with all the Midwest floods I'm searching for a "donor car" I do have a question, the plastic surrounds on the wheel arches are just "stuck" on? Also on the front bumper (in front of the wheel) is that also attached with tape or a hole of some kind? I'm looking to leave the plastic lowers on rockers & bumpers (unless I find that perfect Unicorn of a donor car). I'm having that hideous silver thing on the front painted black on Tuesday. Why Buick didn't just go for the Sport Wagon instead of the fake SUV look.

I going Vauxhall on my emblems as the wife wanted those, looking for the rear but front I think the entire grill will need to be replaced.

Re: Front grille

1 hour at a body shop unless you feel up to popping-off the front end--cost was just a few dollars more than the price of the front badge & backer plate.
(I'm still enjoying my '21 day plates applied for' sticker.)

for me issue is the adaptive cruise I think it needs a "special" grill or sensors

Ahh, that will be problematic. In the 7 months I was waiting for my car (and gathering various part numbers), I only came across one reference to the ACC, and that was at GMPartsDirect concerning the front badge (about $35 for the regular one, 2nd mortgage for the ACC one). None of the Vauxhall front badges on Ebay ever mentioned ACC, so I wonder if they use a different head unit that mounts elsewhere on the grille. That said, there is a small hole just under the badge in my grille that's about 3/4" in diameter...

The extensions on the front bumper cannot be cleanly removed. You'll need some body work or a bumper from a sportback or GS. If you have adaptive cruise then the grille swap is not going to be easy until we can figure out what kind of sensor the Opel/vauxhaul use and if it is compatible with the US version.

I think this post has what you're looking for:

Damn

Looks fantastic, those Brembos really make it.

Pretty straight forward install? I still don't have my TourX so I haven't been able to check this stuff out yet.

Also on the Brembo's, how do they perform compared to stock? I found the stock brakes to be pretty good with great initial bite. Just wondering if you gain much besides fade resistance. Did they bolt up to the existing carrier or did you have to move that too? Would definitely appreciate write ups on these things especially since you said the stock wheels clear them.

Fronts are standard strut setup, nothing unusual. Rears are easy; support the lower control arm with a jack and unbolt the shock and lower control arm mount. Then just lower the control arm until the spring falls out.

Pedal feel wasn't that drastic. On the Saabaru, switching from floating calipers to fixed was a night and day difference, but on the Buick it wasn't so dramatic. Maybe because half the system is still floating. The calipers are a bolt on; just need the hose, rotors, and dust shields.

Rori, did you look at purchasing Insignia springs? If wonder if they are the same p/n as the tourx or are they different. How about anti-roll bars, have you looked if the Insignia parts are different(maybe bigger diameter)?

Any update on the seats?

I just picked up my car yesterday!

He purchased lowering springs from Europe. They lower the regular car 30mm so his TourX which was about 10-20mm taller should have been lowered 40-50mm overall.

Yes, I understand he ordered H&R lowering springs. I am just curious if anyone has looked at OEM part numbers for the Insignia for both springs and anti-roll bars. I like using OE parts when I can so maybe the OE Insignia springs could be a good option for lowering for some people.

Sorry I guess that wasnt clear in my original message, I am interested in OE parts.

I doubt they would be different, but information on Opel/Vauxhall part numbers is hard to find. In the US at least all Sportbacks, GS, and TourX appear to use the same springs and swaybars. Part numbers are the same across all models.
