Shift to park message

I was approved for the repair under warranty but am still waiting for the parts to arrive at the dealer...it's been 2 months 🙁

My TourX has been in the shop since Friday, shift to park, I told them it was probably the shifter but they monkeyed around until today finally ordered one and will have it by Wednesday, how hard can it be to troubleshoot that?

Picked up my TourX today and they replaced the shifter and threw in a oil change for my trouble,so overall they did right by me

Found the flaw with the jumper harness fix for the shift to park. It fixed the problem for sure but I lost 'manual mode'. Today driving in the snow i popped it into manual mode to come down a hill and it didn't switch over.

So i fixed the shift to park annoyance with the jumper. But i lost my manual mode.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Resurrecting this thread to report that my wife said the TourX is starting to exhibit this behavior. I told her to bounce the lockout button a few times to correct if needed - she said she's been giving the shifter a good push forward, which has worked so far.

We're out of warranty (pushing 80K miles), so I will test drive and confirm, then try the "in console" switch repair in the video and report back.

Mine did that too, they replaced the entire shifter unit.

Mine occasionally gives me the "Shift to Park" message as described above. And of course it's off basic warranty. What a PITA.

I came across the following info regarding lemon law stuff and apparently this is a really common on-going issue for many GM vehicles. So the article in this link isn't real helpful other than interesting reading regarding it being a common problem with GM.

The way I’m reading the bulletin is that unit will be fixed as soon they understood what went wrong. So even if the car is no longer cover by the full coverage, they must replace it.

Regards

I drove the TourX yesterday and it performed properly for me. I told my wife, "Cars are like dogs, they can smell fear." 😛

Are you still not able to use the manual shifting? Have you resolved this issue?

Updating that we took the TourX to church today (morning and evening) and got the StP message both times. Clicking the button eventually resolved.

Looks like I need to put some TourX shop time on my schedule.

I installed the harness jumper cable today, and can confirm it deletes manual mode. No StP error, at least on my first drive after the install.

Wife was complaining that her CarPlay wasn't working (intermittently), but per Standard Operating Procedure for any mechanical or technical issues she has, it worked fine for me...

Well, we got the StP message again yesterday, so in our case, that seems to not be the source of the problem… Will see how frequently it does it before pursuing other angles.

Would "pursuing other angles" be replacing the shifter?

Out of curiosity, does the Park indication illuminate in the center console when the StP message is displayed?
