2011 Lacrosse Trunk Mysteriously Opens

Since the trunk key pad replacement my trunk has opened now three times on its own. Took the car back in a few days ago and dealer said they could not duplicate the problem, now keep in mind they did not duplicate the problem when they replaced the touch pad.
I have contacted Buick Customer Service and can only hope for the best.

Help from Buick Customer Service...good luck on that one....
Be sure to ask to a U.S. rep- seriously!
Otherwise you will talking with or writing to someone halfway around the world!!

I sent an email to Buick customer service this morning and with in a few hours they followed up with a reply email and a few hours later I received a call from a customer service rep who had obviously done there home work, they informed me that I would be receiving a call by Monday from someone else higher up in the chain.
I was assured that they are concerned and take the matter very seriously and the person who will call me will discuss how they will proceed.
I will keep everyone posted.

I would like to add that only one time can I remember the trunk opening with the key fob in my pocket, all other times the key fob has been on the dresser.

I think the Buick rep is going to recommend that you buy a new dresser.

Believe me, you will get no satisfaction from Buick Customer Service. Been there, done that.

I did get the call back from Buick as promised. They are contacting the dealer and are looking to get back with me on Wednesday.

Been there and done that too. If my wife or I keep the key fob in our pocket or our trunk will open on occasion. GM's solution is to not keep the fob in your pocket. And I ended up with some scratches on the car from carrying it to the dealership. I informed the service manager about it and he didn't reply.

My trunk will open when the key fob is not in my pocket. Maybe you should have pursued your issue of the scratches with the General Manager.

brubart,
Have you had any luck getting this addressed since your last post? If you decide to get this checked out at a dealership, be sure to let us know!

Buick Customer Service called again today and stated they are still waiting for a response from the dealer.

What do you need it for? The trunk has a button above the license plate that can be used to open it anytime the car is unlocked. If you are inside and someone wants to toss something in the trunk just explain to them where the release is. There is no need at all to have a trunk popper in this car it would be totally redundant.

Oh and another thing, I know alot of people here have complained about the door lock switch being in the center console. This was a bit of a bummer for me as well. I have came up with a solution. The first thing I did was change the settings for door unlock. When I open my driver's door all doors unlock. The second is, you can lock all four doors by pressing the lock plunger down on the driver's door as you exit. You can also touch the black sensor on the door handle if your car is full keyless.

As for the trunk mysteriously opening, I haven't had this yet but I don't put the fob in my pocket all too often. If I do, I always make sure it is by itself in the pocket to avoid anything pushing the buttons.

Allot of dealers here advise not using the ALL DOORS UNLOCK on the passive entry and KEY FOB. The reason for this is due to would be robbers and car jackers. Someone could easily come up to the passenger door and get in.
By hitting the DOOR UNLOCK on the key fob twice you can open the rest of the doors making it allot easier than getting into the car and unlocking the rest of the doors with the center console button. You are also in better control of who you are unlocking the rest of the doors for.
This is especially good advice for women drivers.

That is a very good point. That's why I want to mount a M2 Browning on my baby. 😀

Update:
My car is in the service department ,as service wants to keep it for a few days to see if the trunk will open on its own while it is there. It happens so sporadically that I am doubtful but service is trying to do something.
In an earlier repair they replaced the trunk release pad but did not replace the wire harness as recommended because they saw no signs of corrosion at any of the connections.
I do not know what the end results will be but I said I would keep everyone posted. I still like the LaCrosse, I just hope that a solution to this trunk opening issue will be found.
I was hesitant about pursuing this but after Buick Customer Service got involved I thought it would be best to do what the dealer requested.

As I suspected trunk did not open while at dealership, as dealer could not duplicate problem nothing more was done. I'll wait and see if this issue gets address by Buick in the future.

Hello, I am new to the forum but have enjoyed reading everyones posts. I have a 2011 Lacrosse CXL that I bought used about 3 months ago. I love my car so far and hope to enjoy it for many years to come. It appears that I also have the mysterious trunk opening also! I was driving to work this morning and saw on the information screen that my trunk was open. It had been parked in the garage all night and all doors were unlocked. This is so strange! This seems to be the only thing out of the ordinary that I have noticed on the car. I hope this does not continue to happen!
