2011 Lacrosse Trunk Mysteriously Opens

It's just a thick washer or spacer with an id just bigger than the key release button that's glued on to the fob and prevents pushing the button. You can still push the button but you have to use something small to push it with. The spacer that I used is plastic and is almost the same height as the button.

The tape inside the slot leaves a much cleaner look and you do not have to add anything onto what is already a bulky key fob.

Probably even split the tape across the seam. Just in case you need to replace the battery.

I just got my car back and one of the things that is different about the repair that was done this time is, the connectors now come with the trunk release key pad. This makes me think that replacing the connectors is no longer an option. The connectors were not replaced at the first repair.
I also had the body control module replaced, they reprogramed it on the last repair. I feel that this repair is going to work. I will keep this thread posted.

Got into the car today and as I drove off the trunk open light was on, pulled over to the side of the road and sure enough the trunk had opened on its own. I do not know what the answer to the this problem is.
It went for 60 days after the last repair before it opened on its own. This time the car happened to be parked outside and it was a light rain.

Since winter started I have kept my keys in my coat pocket, hasn't opened since. I guess I'll have to get a new FOB before spring/summer 🙁

I had a call from the service manager today and he informed me that GM wants him to have a new trunk release switch installed in my car. In that the BCM module,trunk pad release and wiring has been replaced, they now want to try a new trunk release switch.

This is the repair that was done today: Replaced rear latch striker (13321093) and lube rear compartment lock per bulletin 2884826.

I've had this happen to me also.
Trunk also opened while I was driving.
I would love to be able to deactivate the trunk button within the Config menu on the sound system/Nav screen.

My previous post gives the latest TSB on this issue, you may want to have your service department give it a try. If this last repair does not solve the issue than I can only hope that Buick will keep working on a true fix.

I just got a call from the service department. Buick has released a new trunk release relay that will require the trunk release button on the fob to be pressed twice before the trunk opens. The relay had to be ordered but should be in and installed in the next couple of days.
I have always believed that Buick would come through on this problem as customer service had told me that Buick Engineers were working on it. This should end the accidental press of the key fob and the random trunk open.
If Lexus and Hyundai had taken this initiative with their cars, that I had some major problems with, I would not be driving a Buick, thank you Lexus and Hyundai and thank you Buick for listening to your customers.
This Just made my decision to consider a 2014 LaCrosse a lot easier.

After I had the two shot relay installed on my 2012 I too notice that after opening the trunk I would need to press the button on the fob for the trunk to close properly. This issue was so intermittent that it did not bother me.
When I purchased my 2014, as a precautionary measure I had the two shot relay installed and notice that sometimes after opening the trunk I would have to press the button on the key fob to get the trunk to close properly.
My 2014 was replace and I decided that I would not have the two shot relay installed unless the trunk really opened on its own. So far the trunk has not open on its own and no problems with closing it.
I believe the two shot relay is now doing in reverse what the one shot relay was doing. Now when you open the trunk with the two shot relay, in some cases when the trunk opens the two shot relay is causing the trunk latch to close so when you close the trunk it will not latch down until you press the fob and get the latch to open, than the trunk will close properly.
Your dealership and I doubt if any other dealership would have a clue as to what is going on, it may take sometime to figure it out but if I had to live with this issue I would much rather to not have the random trunk open but as of this date with the new car I have not experienced either one of these issues.

Doesn't sound like your relay was installed correctly if you have to "click twice to close" lol
