Replaced my factory TourX ProContact TX (no-foam) at 49,000 miles. They still had some tread left but last winter they were losing traction in the snow so I didn't want to try another winter with them. Replaced with OE size Continental DWS06+. Have over 1,000 miles on them and wanted to give some quick impressions. They are every so slightly louder than ProContact but not intrusive or distracting. The ride is more firm as well. Again, not problematic but noticable. The response to steering inputs is much sharper/quicker. Not twitchy, just improved over the mushy response from the ProContact. Not a surprise they were amazing in heavy rains at 75mph on the highway (as new tires should be). No significant snow driving yet so I can't offer any opinions there. I haven't taken a long road trip with them and with the shift to winter gas and colder temps I can't offer any meaningful feedback on mpg but so far no noticable change for better or worse.

They have definitely improved the cornering and handling. As many of us have speculated over the years there was better performance available in the TourX with a simple tire change. The ProContact are a touring tire with softer sidewalls by design which is fine but the DWS06+ improves cornering noticably and lange changes come without the wait for the tire sidewall to catch up.

Overall I would buy again as the positives far outweigh the negatives if as I wanted to improve the handling without meaningful changes to the noise/ride/traction.
Those are the Continental Extreme Contacts I was referencing in my post.

I am wondering how long do the factory tires last?

My TourX OEM tires were needing replacement on front @30K, backs could last another season but decided to get fresh all around. So I installed a set of Michelin CrossClimate2's last week.

So far, so great! Quiet, good in recent NE rains. Said to be pretty good in snow. We shall see soon!

I remember reading that DWS Conti's decrease MPG and accelerate slower vs OEM tires. I really love acceleration on the stock/replacement tires.

How is MPG, acceleration and handling?
Just filled up, so we'll see MPG in a month (don't drive it much, we stick to our other German, an EGolf most of the time). Acceleration seems same, handling better than the old ones of course. Big expenditure at Discount Tire, but I'm happy!

I'd be shocked if there were appreciable differences in acceleration or mpg. I haven't noticed any difference in acceleration (aside from these tires are better at accelerating in snow). It's full-blown winter here now so I can't evaluate mpg yet but in my experience even the "eco" tires have little actual effect on my mpg compared to other factors.

Experienced the disbonding foam in the conti-silents from the recent super freeze when I parked half the car in a puddle and then froze. Tires were about done anyway but still I'm a bit miffed as I wasn't quiet ready after holiday spending.. Any who, I just plucked up a set of Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack 235/50/18. After military & instant discount they're getting installed including certificates at Discount Tire for about $1180. Cross your fingers for me that they work out. By far the most I've spent on tires ever. You may question my decision on the certs but I deploy a lot and I don't wife and kids left high and dry while I'm gone.

Well first, thank you for your service. I used to travel a lot and get you need to be able to remove as many what ifs as possible and often it is worth the money for the reassurance. But I hear you on pricing, my wife's truck will need new tires in spring/summer and I started looking. Last time her tires were $143 each...now they are $240 without mounting/balancing or certs! Not sure why the prices went up 70%.

I had my stock vibrators replaced in September. 20k on the originals.
Got stock size Yokohama Tourance.
All 4 mounted, balanced, and alignment was $1050 in Virginia Beach.

It s a pleasure to serve. I reckon material costs and transportation as of late are the big factors. Also tires are a pain in the ass to move around because they take up a lot of room for what they are.

Just had BFG's G-Force Comp 2 A/S Plus installed last Thursday. I got 54,000 miles out of the stock Conti's which is WAY beyond what I normally get out of a set of tires. Really happy with them through the negative temps and a few inches of snow we had locally. I also drove up to Michigan Christmas Eve where they had 6-8 inches of snow and roads were definitely not cleared. Never had an issue on the highway traveling between SW Michigan and NW Indiana Christmas Day and night. Again, roads were definitely not clear at that point. I did trigger ABS and slide a few times the days after as snow melted and froze again (with roads still not cleared through the 27th) but that was on solid ice with no visible pavement.

I definitely had a drop in MPG as I averaged under 25 for the trip when I would normally be closer to 35. However, it was 1) incredibly windy 2) very cold and 3) lots of snow covered roads with inconsistent highway speeds (didn't feel comfortable with cruise control on). I'm expecting that to improves with warmer temperatures this week and then when winter blend fuels go away.

Yokohama Tourance
You mean Yokohama Tornante? How is the steering, acceleration, handling and fuel economy? Yokohama makes great tires, I have Avid Ascend LX on my other car. They feel and drive as good as stock Michelin Primacy MXM4, but get around 2-3 less MPG on average.

Yes, Tournante....
So far so good, very quiet, excellent grip, especially in the wet. Steering feel is very solid.
Mileage is comparable to the stock Conti.

The Bridgestone Turanza QuietTracks I picked up so far are pretty good. Ride is quieter than ever before and even the steering is easier. We shall see in the long run how they perform. I don't plan on testing these things to their limits so don't expect a detailed review.

Those are supposed to be top tier, along with Michelin Primacy Tour. How is turning, acceleration and fuel economy?

Haven’t blown through a tank a gas on them yet. Turning is by far easier and more confident on steep and sharp off ramps though.

I am starting my search for a new set of tires; I currently have BFG g-Force Comp 2A's and in general I have been more than happy with their performance with one exception...tire wear. To be fair, they are rated as a 40k wear warranty and I think some can get this but I tend to toss my tires well before the wear band since I really notice the drop off in wet performance. I currently have about 20k on them and they read around 6/32 so I am about halfway (full on these is 9/32) through the tread. I may be able to push these further than some other tires just because there is a lot of open area in the tread design but I am doubtful they will get past 30k for me. So I started looking again to find a tire that would be close in performance in wet braking and feel and was considering the Continental Extreme Contact DWS' since the treadlife warranty is a little higher and in some reviews I saw people got even more than that. But I have also heard a lot of issues with noise and balancing issues on these. So for those that have had these installed and have some miles on them...how do you like them? Looking a little further out of the "performance" tire offerings I was also considering the Continental PureContact LS', they have a 70k wear out warranty and while note as good in the rain are close enough for me to consider them. I know some here have gotten these too, so what are your thoughts? Does anyone think I am missing something?
