Disable Automatic Stop/Start

I've had my range tech for a year now. Works great. Will be selling soon as am getting Trifecta. Interested? Drop me a line.
Thanks for the offer. How much? I'll talk it over with wife. Thanks.

Now that it's been over a year, are you still satisfied with the Range Technology product? Have you had any issues with dealer if you took it in? Do you still recommend? Thanks.
I had it for almost a year now, there is only issue with it,if you have to do state inspection every year- you have to unplug them and drive for emission to reset, prior to go for inspection.

RT ASS pending sale to 94 cruiser. Thanks for responses.

Sorry to resurrect this thread... But I want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding:

The Rangetech plug-in device DOES work (for at least 3 people here) on the 2018+ Regal in disabling the Stop/Start (even though their website doesn't indicate that it does)?

EDIT: I did some deep-dive into the forum and found the answer... that Range may have excluded these Regal models due to some "Reduced Engine Power" incidents on the 2.0T engine. I'm a new owner of 2019 Sportback Avenir, replacing our 2014 Regal.

I'll probably check with our nearby Buick dealer's service department first, to see if they can just disable it, as some others mentioned here.

I have a 2019 Regal Sportback and I have the Range Technology device and it works fine.

When I went on their website back in 2019 it seemed to indicate that the device would not work on the Regal. So I called them and asked. They told me that yes it would work so I bought it and am very happy.

The confusion about this was actually related to another device they were selling that is supposed to increase gas mileage. I think that particular device shuts down some cylinders and would not work with 4 cylinder vehicles. I have not been on their website since so I don't know if they ever cleared up that confusion.

That being said, I did notice if you plug the device in while the engine is running then there is some serious performance issues. So always plug it in BEFORE starting the car.

I have 2019 TourX, Range Tech works as advertised, I've had it for over 2 years.

If you don't want to use the OBD2 port the latest version of the Smart Start Stop module doesn't interfere with remote start like the original one did, but is a little more complicated to install.

I recently installed the latest SSS module on my ‘20 GS. Works as advertised and am happy with it. Really wasn’t that difficult, however, the instructions (mine) were incorrect on how to release the locking tab on the small two wire connector that needs to be unplugged, and the device inserted between the connectors. Ended up breaking the tab. Im keeping an eye on it so that it doesn’t walk out.

I Just wanted to add this:

Several people have mentioned the Range Technology device interferes with remote start. I was a little worried when I heard that but decided it was worth it for me to disable the ASS.

It turns out that it did not interfere with remote start on my particular vehicle. So I don't know if I was just lucky, or my particular device was a different production run, or maybe it does not affect my model of vehicle.

I have a 2019 Regal Sportback Preferred II. I purchased the Range Technology device in the summer of 2019.

Range Tech doesn’t interfere with remote start.

However first generation of the Smart Stop Start that attached to hood switch does. Remote start still works but you have to turn car off again and restart to disable the auto start-stop. Second gen Smart Start stop doesn’t have that limitation

Thanks, that clarifies things.

Update: The Range Tech device which I ordered from Auto Anything.... sigh... isn't disabling my ASS. Tried it a few times today. Plugged in, and for a moment the LED blinks, stays solid, then turns off. I start the car, the LED doesn't come back on, and it doesn't perform the job. This one's version number ends with 6, and I think someone (with a working unit) mentioned theirs ends with 5.

I'd get the other device, but it's illegal for a vendor to send it to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my state for many reasons - but not for that one!

The part number I have for my TourX is RA005

If you bought a range tech device from any site other than Range Technology then you probably got a cheap knock-off which may or may not work correctly.

There have been several people on this thread and other stop-start threads on this forum that have mentioned that.
