isnt a 35mm offset going to put the wheels further out, not in? getting you closer to the fenderwell versus the suspension components? Id presume clearance is still fine, but just wanted to clarify

Yes, positive offset moves the wheel mounting surface towards the street side from the center line. +35 will stick out 5mm more than +40 on the same width wheels.

Offset is 5 mm less....so wheels will be farther in or, 10mm less track. Not wide track like a 59 and after Pontiac.
As they said back in the day compared to a wide track Pontiac, Chevy looked like it had ballerina slippers on.

Correct.
An easy way to understand this is,
You have a 200mm wide wheel with zero offset, 100mm will be to the street side, 100mm will be to the suspension side.
At +50mm offset, you will have 50mm of the wheel toward the street side, 150mm toward the suspension side

Whatever, guys, it's less than a quarter of an inch. I had it on the interstate to check the balance on the tires and new wheels and its as smooth as silk up to 115.

From what I've culled through on various sites, the consensus seems to be +32-38 should be fine for 8"-8.5" wide wheels, if you go 9"-9.5" you need to be more prudent with the width of the tire so it doesn't stick outside the fender.

no smaller than 17 to fit over brakes

Well I got my 4th wheel today,
They sent the correct Bolt circle patter, but sent a silver wheel not a black metallic.🙁

Looking at some 20" Lacrosse wheels. The wheels are larger but the sidewall is less so the total extra diameter is only +.4". I understand the Buick ride height was raised a half an inch so there should be room in the wheel well. Will this affect any of the stability/TC electronics?

So this is a better representation of what it looks like once car is clean and all and the rims had a day to set.

Wow, looks great. Amazing how much better it looks by getting rid of the machined surfaces.

FYI, 19 x 9 rims will fit with a 35-40mm offset. I measured with an 18 X 8 rim in front.
Rim had about 16mm clearance to strut.

I think I've decided on foose f104 legend in 20x8.5 ...kind of the old cragar ss look, but black. Need to confirm what offset is available though. Gonna burn off a year or 2 of factory rubber first, and then keep the factory rims for snow tires.

I ordered 4 Velox Apex 18 x 8 , 40 mm offset Black metallic wheels with 5x 110/5x115 B.C.
from Discount Tire over a month ago to mount my Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flat 245-50R18 100H Tires that I got on sale for $396.00.
The rims were backordered to be shipped from Velox. What I received about 2 weeks after I ordered the wheels were 3 correct wheels and a single Velox Apex 18 x 8, 40 mm offset Black metallic wheels with 5x 108/5x114.3 B.C. in a relabeled box.
So I returened the wheel to Discount Tire prepaid 7 they order another wheel from Apex. The second wheel I receive was a Velox Apex 18 x 8 , 40 mm offset Silver wheel with 5x 108/5x115 B.C.
Discount tire informs me that Velox has no more Velox Apex 18 x 8 , 40 mm offset Black metallic wheels with 5x 110/5x115 B.C. and they are not scheduled to reorder.
Discount tire said I can ship all the wheels back and get them replaced with 4 VELOX NIRVANA 18 x 8 , 40 mm offset Black metallic wheels with 5x 110/5x115 B.C. 18 x 8 , 40 mm offset Black metallic wheels with 5x 110/5x115 B.C. or keep what I have and they will credit me a another $100. Discount Tire is sending a black matching center cap also.
I decided to keep the Apex wheels and paint the silver wheel to match.
If and when another Apex wheel becomes available i will order it for a spare.
so i figure I get a decent set of winter rubber & rims for $900 or less installed with new lugs & TPS Valve stems.
Still all this is a pain in the butt.
I bought Michelin PSS tires 235/50-18 summer tires also from Discount Tire, 4 for $356, plus they handled this mess with Velox well so I have no bad words for Discount tire.

I've been thinking the silver or chrome would look better on our white TourX than the black or even the black chrome look. Would you mind posting a few shots after you get them on ?

Expand and look at the Photo's, I have both the the Siver, the "black Metallic: and original tire in one photo to compare.
The black metallic is really Dark Grey metallic. I do think the silver looks nice, but silver was not on sale at the price I paid.
Once I get the snow tires mounted on these new rims, I'll post photos of the entire car.
