What major repairs did you have to do on the vehicle to get to almost 600,000 miles? Engine/trans still original?
I think five nine Mike said the transmission was rebuilt at 273k. I am curious what other things have been replaced.

Engine is original. Technically its never been overhauled however the intake manifold has been replaced twice, valve cover gaskets have been replaced once and the head gaskets are original with a clean bill of health per a compression test two weeks ago. Transmission was rebuilt at 212k and a transmission cooler was installed.

Regarding major repairs, haven't really had any I would consider major outside of the intake manifold. Recently had the front wheel hubs and tie rods replaced because they were pretty worn out. I have been through many axles, brakes and rotors, mostly because the car always warps rotors, even the heavy duty ones because of my driving.

I have some upcoming repairs planned including the AC which will be expensive, but its not been a big deal because well... don't really need it during winter here in the Pacific Northwest. Its almost time to buy some new summer tires because studded tires aren't legal locally on April 1 due to winter being done and over with.

I'm at around 598,500 miles on the odometer today. The car is going into the shop on Wednesday for transmission fluid swap and to look into a P0440 and P0404 issue that I can't figure out. Replaced the purge valve and EGR valve, still runs rough at idle when warmed up so I figure there is a leak in one of the other EVAP hoses, the EGR tubing or something wrong with the charcoal cannister. No loss of power, fuel economy is still normal, just runs rough at idle once warm and I don't feel like chasing tiny cracks, lol.

Does the OBD2 give out trans temps when driving?

Was installed by previous owner, I don't know anything about it. It's sort of similar to the cooler I have in my 5.9L Grand Cherokee though. No temp monitoring or anything.

Just rolled another 1k today. So 1000 miles to go.

I voted,I have an 89 Buick LeSabre with over 180,000 miles,run GOOD.The only thing is that the "Check Engine Light" is on,got the code for it that read Code 41 or 42 that indicated that the "Cam Sensor Malfunction".I was told that the "Magnet",if not there,would allow the car to start but it stars on a dime,so I have not as of yet got that problem fixed but sooner or later,put a new radio in it,new spark plugs,changed the oil with "High Mileage Full Synthetic Oil" with "Engine Restorer",had back brakes put on,cost around 300 to 400 hundred but it needed to be done.I may need a frontend alighment,but other than that,she run great.Any input on anything I just wrote,fill free to respond.
I have the same "check engine" problem with my 2005 I bought with 108,000 now 121,000. No matter what I replace it finds another code to throw at me.

604,444 at the moment on mine. Going to put on another 1000 this weekend.
 
A bit over 128K miles on my 2004 LeSabre Custom. I bought it with just over 127K at the end of January this year. I do not have as much confidence in this car running up to or past 200K without major repairs as I did in the Hondas and Toyotas that I've owned. Just recently had the upper intake manifold and gasket replaced as well as the lower manifold gasket due to coolant leaks. The coolant elbows had already been replaced when I bought the car. Recently when having the oil changed the technician said that the oil was low and I have a "major oil leak", though he couldn't specify where it was. He suggested that the oil pan gasket may be leaking, but I haven't seen any oil on the ground. I'll have to pay closer attention to the oil level and check it more often.
I'm also worried about how long the transmission will last.
In contrast, I've owned Japanese cars that still had the original transmission and clutch in them at over 180K miles. I really doubt this Buick will be able to do that.
 
A LeSabre will last you a long time as long as you have the time and/or money. It's a labor of love that may pinch the wallet once in a while, but when you spread that cost over your operating time, you are spending little money.

My '05 has almost 88,000 miles. Bought it 1.5 yr ago at 80,000 and spent another grand doing all the little things the previous grandma owner neglected: upper intake manifold and coolant elbows, water pump, radiator flush and fresh coolant, new t-stat, wheel hub and bearings, trans fluid change, new headliner, new o-rings/gaskets wherever I could reach, had LIM machined a bit. I added my personal touch by putting in parts of a trans go shift kit as a prophylaxis to any issues with the 4t65e and added an aftermarket mech-less head unit and a backup cam.

Simply because I could. When I removed the old nylon gasket, there was residue left on the LIM that no matter how much simple green I used to clean it, I couldn't get it off. So I had the mating surface machined evenly (I did not port the LIM) so I could ensure a sealed fit with the new aluminum gasket.

Did you put in the TransGo shift kit PRIOR to experiencing any shifting issues? Most will install the shift kit but AFTER experiencing harsh shifting issues.

I did it prior, as a preventative, based on advice here. I was removing and replacing the trans drain pan anyways, so I went ahead and did it. I also added a better magnet in the drain pan. Will it make a difference? Who knows, but for <$5, it was worth it.
