The price of the newer style 'solid strip' LED DRLs came down to $66 on e-bay, so I decided to try them out.
Search for 'buick regal led drl' and you'll find them.
My $0.02: As has been said before, these are clearly 'china quality' parts. Those little black control boxes are a total joke. They are unsealed plastic enclosures over a completely non-coated circuit board. I don't see any way these things would survive under a hood of a car unless you never take the car out of the garage... or wash it.
You only really need those boxes if you want the turn signal feature anyways, which I didn't, so no real issue. Threw mine in the garbage where they belong. If I did want the turn signal option, I would have sealed those boxes up with a bunch of RTV to give them a hope in hell.
The actual DRLs aren't much better in terms of quality. The sealing of the two main pieces looked suspect to me, so I sealed all the way around with clear silicone before installing them. Easy to do and might just make them survive.
I didn't want mine on any time the key is on (accessory power). I only really wanted them on when the side marker lights are on (lights in the 'parking light' mode, or the HIDs are on). So I wired the white wires to the side marker light wires going to the front headlights. On a 2012 Regal GS, this is a violet with gray stripe wire on the passenger side, and gray with a brown stripe on the driver's side.
Those marker lamps are LEDs in the front, but that same circuit powers regular bulbs in the back, so I figure that circuit can handle the 130mA or so each LED DRL was adding to the circuit.
I think they look pretty cool. Just have to see if they survive, which does seem questionable based on the overall quality of the parts.
