Need help, my 2004 Lesabre shifts hard.

makes sense thinking about it. that means the pressure and flow going to the differential unit drops off, and i assume greatly thats not desireable lol
In this video, the person is claiming that after installing the Shift Kit, the accumulator pipe blew out the rubber part.

Well, I'll be sure tonreplace the tube and/or add the clamp
It actually sounded like he said he discovered the damaged hose while he was installing the kit and not as a result of the kit.

Sometimes my 2004 Lesabre shifts hard. It doesn't bang but definitely a more firm shift. I shut it off and start it again then it shifts smooth and normal.

Got the AC Delco line replacement but not liking the hose. The clamping looks good but the rubber hose itself has layering line on it. Not sure if that layering on the hose is glued? Just doesn't give me assurance as if it was a complete hose with no layering.

I am leaning towards just keeping the factory hose in place. As if this replacement hose is faulty and fails, it will cause more problems. The AC Delco hose states it was made in Costa Rica. What's up with that hose? Why didn't they use a complete hose with no gaps/layering?

IF yours looks the same, I wouldnt worry. Rememeber, this hose has to be permanently submersed, so its design may be different than youd expect.
If you could, i owuld put some ATF inside it and suspend it and see if it leaks out at all

Good catch

That would be my concern, is that I am replacing a part that is currently working fine, with a part that might fail. Isn't that line under pressure since it's moving trans fluid?

Because enquiring minds want to know.
Hydraulic hoses have many layers in their construction. Only the innermost layer is the leakproof membrane. All the outer layers are either for reinforcement or for protection. I would use that new hose. I hate learning stuff on my day off.

Yes, but the one you have Id be more worried about. if the other guys line looks the same, I wouldnt worry. I havent seen any photos of the line other than the stock image on the sale page. so it may be perfectly normal. its really stiff, right, like you can move it but not much? those crimps and that line are going to hold eachother "into" eachother" kinda like using the clamp on the OE line is designed to do.If you dont have a clamp, the pieces push eachother "away" but if you clamp the one side, they pin the hose between the lines and then it less likely to have issues. that line specifically is the differential lube source

Yes, please let me know when you get it and take a pic. I am curious if it looks the same as mine.

It did, but Imat work. I will be able to grab it soon and have a look at it and I'll let you know in a couple of hours

Any updates?

I got the pan dropped and inspected the hose and it is perfectly fine. I decided NOT to change it. Here's why:

I got a new Wix trans filter and it will NOT fit in the housing due to improper machining of the filter neck (see pic). I got another Wix, same problem. Due to the supply issues, manufacturers are outsourcing to others and quality it going downhill. The Wix filter is made in Taiwan. The specs for the filter neck are too thick/wide and it will not fit into the trans housing.

I got an AutozZone Duralast and it fit perfectly fine like the old AcDelco I replaced. It fit into the trans housing without issues (unlike the Wix).

So I don't want to change a perfectly good hose for a hose that looks weird and might fail. Supply chain issued have screwed the replacement part industry with lesser quality parts. If the hose showed deterioration, then I would have changed but it's the old adage of "if it's not broken, don't fix it".

I also installed the Dorman trans pan with drain plug. Seems like a decent quality pan. Not sure if it is thinner than the OEM pan? Both pans are steel so I used the magnets.Pan.webp
