Noise from front passenger-side suspension...

Service worked with it for a little over an hour and said they need to order a replacement strut and strut mount; should come in between now and Friday. They said installation and testing will take 2 to 3 hours. Will let you know how it goes.

Mines already had both of these replaced.....still rattles, and nobody at Buick cares.

Parts came in today; dropped the car off for 2 1/2 hours, they replaced the strut and strut mount with the following parts: 20944652 B-STRUT and the 22744295 F-MOUNT. The official cause that is documented on the RO is "Poor Fit." Problem is resolved. I'll post back if this changes in a few days.

I am glad to see that your concern has been resolved. Please feel free to contact me with any questions in the future.

Notice, theirs no mention of my regal still being defective, or any action from Buick

Hey Tricia, why hasnt Buick checked my car for the same poor fit as described above? Does Buick really think that I'm just going to live with it? Hell , the car I traded in had 100k and didnt rattle, and I wish I had it back sometimes.

I dropped off my car again yesterday for front end suspension noise on right side and popping noise when turning the steering wheel. Dealer heard both of the noises and had parts overnighted. It will be interesting to see what they replace this time.

Dealer called and they fixed popping noise when turning the steering wheel by replace a bearing. They are still working on passenger front suspension noise and GM technical has advised them to order a motor mount. So we will see what this does. At least they hear the noise.

Thats funny, my dealer tells me that GM tech line has no complaints for this issue or a fix?

I received the car back this past Thursday. They replaced the motor mount and it didn't fix the issue. The tech can hear the suspension noise on the right side but he thinks it is a characteristic of a car with the 19" wheels and suspension package. He came to this conclusion by driving a GS on the lot with 19" wheels and he said it did the same thing. He said that the engine on the right side is mounted very close to the right strut and he thinks when you hit choppy roads it excites the engine mount making the hollow noise you hear. I don't buy it and I told him it was a design flaw that they don't know how to fix. Now my car is back in the shop for the popping noise when turning the wheel. They said they fixed that but the noise came right back.

Thanks for the post, this is very interesting. My car also has this exact same noise, and it has 19" wheels and the suspension package. As I've described in the other thread, concerning the sound system issue,my dealer says the GM tech line has no other complaints or a fix for this issue. Now do you really believe that? I sure as hell don't, I think GM has a problem here that they cant fix and wont admit because it would cost a fortune.

Dropped my car off at a different dealership, they heard the sound, and likewise, were advised that it was the engine mount. Will be repaired today, we will see if this is the fix (I hope so).

Edit- Great, just read your second post, that it DIDN"T fix it. Thankfully there is a road just down the street from the dealership where I can test it out with the tech in the car to find out if it's fixed or not. Lets HOPE mine's different.

Are you guys getting different dealers to do repairs on the same work another dealer did work on?

I was told dealer 2 will not touch work done by dealer 1.

So to answer "Blah", yes, two different dealers, gave one two chances, first chance "Unable to reproduce", called BS, drove the service manager in the car and showed him. "We have to order parts". Brought it back to have them replace the strut mount and some "link", don't have the sheet in front of me.

Noise was still there. Waited a few months, brought car to different dealer, happened to be a week or so after the TSB about the engine mount issue, replaced said engine mount.

Now, the noise is MOSTLY gone. I would say 95% gone. The reverberation is gone, only one thud now, and it is lessened considerably. Unfortunately, I do think its in the harmonics and design of the car. It's definitely live-able now, but wasn't before. Even my uncle, who is a GM salesman, when he rode in the car the first time commented on the noise before I got it fixed.

As for a side note, the radio issue, I changed my setting to "low" for the speed sensitive setting and that seemed to fix that issue. And "miraculously", my climate control is actually working OK now. Guess these cars don't like winter, just like us humans. LOL

Still turn heads in the car, and I know its not me, cuz I'm DEFINITELY not a looker. This from a guy who bought a new first year sled this year and had his fair share of issues with that, this car was NOTHING compared to that... All vehicles have issues one time or another, Lets just hope this stays fixed now

I just want to let you guys know my car is going back to the shop on Thursday because of a popping noise when turning the steering wheel. Supposedly GM has just come out with an updated strut mount because the orginal unit does not fit snugly. I think my popping when turning the wheel is related to the thumping noise in the right suspension. The reason being is the popping noise originates on the right side. So heres to the hope GM finally found a fix to the noisy supsension. So far I have had two upper strut mounts replaced along with an engine mount and it didn't fix the issue.

Newtfox,

Did you have to show them that your wheel pops when you dropped it off? Mine does it occasionally, but I know that when I go to show them, it won't do it. Even if I leave it, they'll probably say they didn't notice anything and not do any repairs.

Thank you for the information Newt Fox.

StiltsRu, when my GS went in to be looked at for the steering popping, they couldn't find anything. They claimed to check all steering components and the column and everything was tight. I have a feeling, these dealers are clueless to what's going on with the cars. U blame GM for not informing them.

At least you guys are getting info from your dealers. My dealer has never mentioned the motor mount fix or updated strut mount. My car has had a strut and anper mount replaced several months ago, and now they claim they can't hear it at all. And GM customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.....a bunch of arrogant bastards.

Does anyone have the tsb on the engine mount or strut mount? Part number or anything would be appreciated.
