Sound System Issue

This will probably never be solved at this point. If they haven't come out with a fix yet and they will be in year 3 of production soon (for the US and Canada ), I am doubting it will ever come... 🙁

I have a T04 that seems to be different than most of those mentioned in this thread. I have heard the volume compensate and cant say that it any different than any other system from any other make that I have owned. The biggest apparent difference is that I dont have a numeric indicator for volume level, just a bar graph. My compensation is set to medium. I rarely listen to CDs so have not heard the issue with those. I also notice that the volume will reset to its normal level after a the speed has lowered.

Got a long trip in the near future and will play with it more and let everyone know. Build date of my car was 10/10.

I tried to get some owners on this site to step up and join me in my binding arbitration, but i only received one reply. This is obviously a 2011 issue and GM has cut us off. So now we live with it I guess. And just for insult , they give the verano turbo 30 more horsepower. Thanks GM

I have to get Adele's CD to see if it does the same thing. I am leaning towards the mixing of the song. I have only one other song that does this but it is no where as noticeable as Adele. Since that is a song that I rarely listen to, I dont have much of an issue.

I have the same issue with my stereo now for over a year. I have a 2011 regal turbo with the T06 package and Harmon kardon stereo. I have been back and forth with the dealer and GM. The electronics service person keeps saying he can't hear the stereo doing this, I even handed him all the complaints that everyone has and that they proved that it is a software issue in the amp. I am so sick of this run around with GM and the dealer that I am about to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Good luck my friend, i finally got my dealer to give me a deal on a 12 GS, the BBB and GM got me nowhere but pissed off. The stereo in my 2012
doesnt quite have the bass my 2011 had, but at least it doesn't fluctuate

This kind of goes with this radio topic. When I start my car with a cd in the entire radio resets all functions. Only does this with a cd in. Anybody have this issue? Going in next week.

RegalgsT,

What do you mean that the radio resets? Please contact me privately with the last eight of your VIN. I can then do some further research for you. Thank you.

I think I have the same problem but I found a fix so I'm curious...

Go to "tone" and take it from "hk surround" to "stereo"

See if the volume changes still happen.

Stereo doesn't exactly sound as good as HK Surround, but the whole point of surround is through manipulating the volume (my receiver / stereo at home does this too) and so if it's a certain song you want to hear without volume changes then do this.

Also, set all of your levels to equal at mid way (treble, mid, base all the same at the middle bar).

Whenever I have it set on "stereo" and all the equalizers level then I don't have any volume changes... can others back this up?

I think a fix for the HK Surround would be great, but I think it would be much more complicated.... they would have to redo the speaker layout for the car's programming (it's as if they put in a front, mid, and mid speaker instead of a front, mid, and rear speaker and that's why it's dropping - there's a speaker missing that's supposed to pick up that part of the "surround" and area range)

Your fix may work for a 12, but the 11s don't have surround, unless it is watching a DVD (supposedly). Personally, I have only a few songs that show this phenomenon and it my opinion that it is the way they are mixed. Definitely not something to sue a company over. IMHO

Hey guys, do people still check on here. If you do, please let me know, I have updates.

Only issue I have with the HU is that on XM/FM it is way quieter than when I stream BT audio from my Note II.

45/45 on XM is just as loud as 25/45 when using BT.

I don't notice the sound levels being as bad as they used to be. I have not had anything done to my car, unless the Trifecta Tune fixed the issue 😀

Could they have done a firmware update at some point?

I've been driving my GS since last Thursday playing the stereo almost constantly!

I've not noticed any such problem - only that when I switch between, say, Aux (iPod) and XM, I have to turn the volume down and adjust the bass! I just found the HK Surround and it DOES make a difference!

Sweet sound system!

Just to bump this up, I'd like to add that I have the same problem. The dealer is a friend so I'll ask his dudes to look up bulletin PI0960 per Jarl's most recent suggestion, let ya'll know if I find anything else out.
