TSB 19-NA-100 Radio Software Version 22.8 and TSB 19-NA-249 Favorites Grayed Out- Nov 4, 2019

My red needle has had none of those bugs.
GM could screw up a wet dream.
Like no manual available on TourX, or even on their Chevy halo car.

Same here! Not sure what all the dust is about then I see white needled-2018 and later.

I've had this "Grayed-out" problem for months and months. Just got my software updated to 22.9 and it did NOT fix the problem. I have a great dealer Service Dept and they must be tired of me complaining about me losing my presets. Well with the 22.9 software update not fixing the problem, I told the service dept that the next time I bring it in, they should phone the Buick Tech Line to fix it.

Since the 22.9 upgrade, the problem is worse than before the upgrade, losing presets between three times a day to at best, every other day.

Now I decided to try something different before I take car back in.

Went to Settings.
Then to Systems.
Then to Favorites.
Then to Audio.
Then I DELETED all my audio favorites.
Then went back to my audio screen, and not only were all my presets gone, (which I wanted) but also no Grayed out areas. Screen looked like when it came from factory, ready to enter presets.
I then entered all the 15 presets I wanted. Ten SXM, two AM and three FM (two of the FM have HD).

Went back into Settings, Systems and Favorites but this time, I set the number of favorites shown to 15 from my previous 20 or 25.

The display in the DIS between the tach and speedo was not correct, but on the next start up, it booted up correct.

It's been three days now and so far, all is operating corrrctly. (KNOCK ON WOOD). Will see how long it lasts. If it continues working good, I'm not going to do TSB for the Fish Eye Camera as I can live with the camera as it is.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
The above MAY be the answer. Still working correctly after four days. Will keep you updated every week or so, or when it screws up again.

Now over ten days since I did the above procedure. Still working great.

2019 TourX Essence here and when I select check for updates it claims I am up to date but I have a 21.sumthing version reported.

Do I have to contact OnStar and request an upgrade?
The bluetooth connection problems are super annoying.

Resetting to factory setting might be the trick to clear out the cache and fixed the issue for you.

Not the factory settings.

I went into Settings, them to Audio Favorites. Then deleted (trash canned) all my audio favorites. Then Back to Audio screen reinstalled all my favorite stations.

Go back to my previous post on the subject. So far, working fine, thank goodness.

Too good to last. DID NOT EVEN LAST TWO WEEKS. I have only 15 presets and this morning, four of them were grayed out. Luckily I have the stations listed on a sheet of paper so it only took me about two minutes to reprogram.

It makes me wonder what they upgraded/fixed in the software (of course there isn't any changelog that they will post to let us know), of course there could be a fundamental design flaw in the Harmon unit...

I am pretty sure the update fixed nothing at all.... How dissapointing.

Forgive the naïve question, but how do I determine what RPO and what Infotainment software version I have?

I have a 2019 Regal Sportback Preferred II with no additional options. I took it into the dealer 2 months ago and they did a Infotainment software update, but I have no idea if that was 22.9 or not. I currently have grayed-out favorites (I have not tried clearing & re-setting yet), and I have the issue with the USB occasionally not being detected (as well as a new flash drive (Microcenter 3.0 128GB) it has never been able to recognize).

On the touchscreen, press 'Settings' --> select the 'SYSTEM' tab --> scroll down until you see 'About', select that & there you are.

I've got the '19 Sportback Pref II as well and mine came from the factory with ver. 21.1--only problem I have is the USB not found about 35% of the time on start-up. That said, I have about 4 pre-sets (all FM) but they have remained intact.

Thanks Anaduff. I will check it when I get off work.

I only get the USB not found about once a week or so. The main issue is it does not seem to recognize any USB 2.0 flash drives. For the USB 3.0 flash drives it does recognize my two Microcenter 64GB drives, but does not recognize my Microcenter 128GB drive. The dealer did not have an explanation as to why that is.

A couple small differences since the 22.9 update.

1. When I get the grayed out stations, only some of them disappear. Others stay bright.

2. Sometimes ALL stations blacked out. Missing. I have NO Stations showing. Not grayed out but all blacked out. HOWEVER, this is a function of the system rebooting and the stations come back after ten seconds or so. I don’t worry about this (ahhh, computers).

3. Good things since the 22.9 update.

3a. Connecting car WiFi from my Apple i5 or i5s Personal Hotspot is faster and almost flawless.

3b. Time shown on DIS speed screen now shows Local Time vice the GMT that it used to show.

I'm at 21.1 and the local time has always matched between the DIC & the touchscreen--so I'm not so sure about 3b. But glad to hear a full version plus 0.8 upgrade actually fixed something.

I have 22.1 in my GS and stopped by the Chevy dealer today for an oil change and asked them to apply the update.

Spoke to the tech twice and he said I had the update but I’m still at 22.1. I gave him the TSB and he showed me some printout of some component sheet stating that his system is showing it’s up to date. I think he was confusing some component firmware with the head unit firmware.

I guess I’ll have to talk to the Buick dealer about it on the next service. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to just get firmware either downloaded OTA or applied in the dealer.

I went to Settings - System - About and it shows my Build# as PS21.1. The detail shows it as GMINFO3:5.1.1/INFO3-PS21.175E-1/315:user/release-keys/ with a date of June 20, 2018.

I went to the dealer about 2 months ago and they claimed they updated the software, but there is nothing showing under "updates" on the Build# info screen. Methinks they lied to me. Does anybody have anything showing underneath "update" on the Build# info screen?

I made the mistake of going into the Open Source Software link in Settings - System. There is nothing in there that was particularly helpful. There are links to about 300-400 files, and there are a number of .jar files at the bottom. I assume the audio.jar, radio.jar & favorites.jar are the ones that would need to be updated. There does not appear to be a way to peek inside of these things to see how old they are.

There is nothing even remotely like a "readme.txt" file. I took a look at the first link "/kernel" and read thru it. It looks like the software was licensed to the Free Software Foundation, Boston MA about 1989.

Further down it said the licensee was "James Hacker" and the signature of the Vice president was "Ty Coon, President of Vice". Under normal circumstances I would find this hilarious, but since this software is @%$@#@# crap, I don't find it very funny at all.

Hey, that's a great job there GM using Open Source software that any jackass can update with crappy code.

Could be worse--both Apple & Microsoft updates have been know to brick hardware.

File this under 'Who Wrote This *%$!!* Software'; the number of contributors to the overall project covers a 'who's who' of the software world:
