Has anyone replace their Tourx wheels?

So, my understanding is that the TourX tires and wheels are as follows:

Tires: Continental ProContact, Grand Touring A/S, 235/50R18 97V

Ideal rim width:7.5"
Overall Diameter: 27.3", 762 revs per mile
Max load: 1,609 lbs

Wheels: 5x115mm bolt pattern, 8Jx18, ET40, 70.2mm bore.


I have stock 19" rims on my Mazda6 and love the look and road feel of them with 225/45R19 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 UHP Summer Tires.

When my Conti's fade away I want to get a 19" summer tire/wheel package and use the stock rims for winter rubber.

First off, it's a real P.I.T.A. finding 19" rims with 5x115 pattern and 40mm-ish offset.

Any wheel recommendations?

Then, I'm not going to find the exact outer diameter for a 19" tire...

Should I go down to 26.7" (245/40R19) or up to 27.7" (245/45R19)?

Not sure if 255 is too wide for you - but @LJ did put 255/45/18 on his stock wheels

closest match for circumference on a 19 is either:

235/45/19 is +0.3%
255/40/19 is -0.8% - but you may want to consider a 8.5-9” width on the wheel.

265/40/19 would also work - but clearance would be an issue.

I also haven’t found many 19” wheels that fit and I would want to install. I even looked at orphaned front wheels from Cadillac ATS (ran optional staggered 19’s, but fronts from that pair should work) and even from the old Cadillac DTS (much harder to find 19’s - and offset is iffy) as bolt pattern and and centerbore do match.

Looks like it’s plastidip for now 🙂

The 235/45R19 sounds great in theory, but based on tirerack pages, the summer selection is pretty limited to one set of Pirelli and a couple Bridgestone Dueller summer truck tires!

yes - much better selection to go +2 and run a 235/35/20 (if you can live with -2.8% in diameter). I want wider - and 255/35/20 has more options

I wanted to start a new topic, but I will ask here first. What is the best option for ultra light wheels that fit our cars? I wish Enkei had RPF1 or PF01, but they don't. Cornering and performance both improve when lighter wheels are installed, so I am looking into options.

Stock wheels are sort of heavy, a about 27 Lbs, but there are just as heavy or heavier aftermarket cast 18" wheels
First thing I want to point out is in general, 19" & 20" wheels are 3 to 7 lbs heavier than the same 18" wheel.
Second, stronger forged, spun form or high pressure or spun cast wheels are more expensive. Easy to spend $2,000.
Third, you can find reasonable cost light wheels, at around 22 lbs, but these have a load rating of about 1,400 lbs. Tour X is not a Honda Civic.
Tires have a 1,600 lb rating, the wheel should be just as strong or stronger if you live in an area with typically poor roads.
These are the cheapest strongest, sort of light wheels.
This Wheel is 1,900 lbs. and 25.4 lbs. & at a reasonable price.

The BBS wheels at Tire Rack are cast wheels @ 26Lbs, Not sure of load rating? These are BBS, so I would expect quality and they are hub centric direct fit but awful pricy for a cast wheel.

I will check them out right now. Thank you. I would not install any aftermarket wheels here (I am in DC area), but I am moving down to FL, so road quality will be much better. What about downsizing? Are there any 17" wheels that would work? I am guessing 16" would not clear the rotors.

I spent some time researching available options. It looks like Enkei J10 17x7 5x115 is our best lightweight option, around 18 lbs each. They are not exactly the best looking wheels, but their weight will make a significant difference. 17" tires will also cost much less compared to 18", around $30 less per tire and they will add more comfort which is what I am looking for.
Less premium option would be Maxxim Winner 17x7 (made by Konig). I had them in the past, they were really good. According to Discount Tires Direct, they are just 17 lbs each.

Amazon says their weight is 30 lbs, but Tire Rack has them listed as 18 lbs each. I believe Tire Rack is correct.

A set of sport springs lowers the car about 3/4 of an inch to an inch so its hardly 'slammed to the ground'. Many years ago I had a Jetta TDI wagon that felt rather floaty at highway speeds and I put a set of Eibach sport springs on the car and it improved performance significantly, made the car feel 'buttoned down' on the highway and in cornering.

The fact that one can get this car in the EU with a sport model means it has the capability to be more street/sport focused but we don't have that option here in North America unless you create it yourself as some other's have done on this forum with fantastic results. Each unto his own.

Thanks, I just had my springs installed and i bought 20x8.5 wheels but wasnt sure on tire size. Your car sits nice and look amazing with all the upgrades. Is there anything that can be done to cover or replace the Buick steering wheel badge? I have Opel badges coming from Adrian.
