Finally was able to put her on the road and start driving her this weekend after a long ordeal registering it with the DMV. 1998 LeSabre limited with 8719 miles.

That's gotta be the "newest" 16 year old car around here! 😉

the car is immaculate. The lady never used it and always had it serviced at the dealer per the carfax. The car was in a minor accident so there are a few imperfections along the side all minor stuff.

2000 Ltd with 280,000. Just this past weekend replaced the transmission (my bad). This car had new struts at 150k and still drives like a dream. I am running Defenders and the tread looks like it will get me 100k. Last set gave me 120k. Still getting 31-33 mpg. The original transmission was a PAQ. This one is a PPQ, anyone know the difference?

Hello all, I am new to this site. I am the original and sole owner of a white 2000 LeSabre Custom with 394,561 miles as I type this. Every mile but 11 as it came off the lot are mine. Same original engine, different tranny, and it went at 320k due to a pipe falling out of a truck and piercing it. Many parts changed over her lifetime, shocks, struts, brakes, tires, UIM, dexcool swap to green, basic maintenance as well, and window regulators last week were changed (they died at various times, only annoyed me when the driver's failed).
I am a Master GM parts guy by trade though, so I have the right stuff and people at my disposal. I love this darn car.

I have a 2004 that i purchased 8 months ago with 104,000 it now has 115,000. Had to change a front wheelbearing/sensor and flush the coolant system. Aside from that it's been bullet proof. White celebration model. Fresh. Best car i have ever owned. Hope to see 200k and then find another.

Up to 162,000 on my 2000 LeSabre, still runs perfectly beside the minor things here and there.

I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre Custom named Beulah with 117K. I bought it 5 years ago at 29k. Although there have been minor repairs and maintenance, this has been the best most dependable car ever. I am especially proud of her performance in the snow and the terrible winter we had this year. She never failed me. I made it to work when the 4 wheel drives didn't. I am so glad to see everyone loves their LeSabres as much as I do.

Hello to all,

This is a great forum, It is such a relief when folks share their experiences and pay it forward to set the bar high, and get replies that offer great insight. Previously I had posted a concern regarding a fuel leak directly under the rear passenger side door. Still working on that issue.

Today while driving my 1998 Buick LeSabre, I had to hard brake at about 35 mph, after a child ran out of nowhere. Scared me, thank god I was using the skills I had learned many years ago paying attention and always scanning for little feet under parked cars etc.

On topic... Right after this, my dash brake warning light came on solid and started to chime continuously, so I pulled over and popped the hood. The brake fluid cap has no dipstick. The rectangular reservoir has a molded line, dead center around the circumference of the outside. Got out my flashlight and noticed it was a tad below the line.

My owners manual was of no help. All previous brake fluid caps had some sort of dipstick to measure the fluid level. Of course, when I accelerated, the warning light and chime stopped. It was just the red brake warning light on the dash that appeared and not the ABS light.

I fear the worst case scenario may be a hydraulic brake line connector, the line itself etc. There are no visible leaks under the car, no visible cracks in the master cylinder or the reservoir. Perhaps a coincidence and may have to top up the brake fluid. It is clear amber with no gritty texture.

I often use the emergency brake when parked on a hill, I read that this may cause the dash brake warning light to activate if not fully disengaged. Wondering if their is a way to reset the DRL to help with diagnostics.

As many of us are walking a fine line with our finances, I cannot afford a mechanic.
All these issues started when the weather got very warm, thus expanding the connectors etc.

Just bought it last November, this car ran solid, good acceleration, even in the mountains, the Oxygen sensors accommodated acceleration ran smoothly, very comfortable.

At my wits end
Many thanks,
MyBuick1998

My '92 LeSabre has 417,000 miles. No fooling. Turned over the 400K mark last year...runs great, but starting to fall apart around the drivetrain. Well, not fall apart but more maintenance...
