depends on the vehicle. Borla in what I've seen, too expensive, and too quiet..
Magnaflows sound way better than Borlas.. Depending on application Spintech > Borla.
You are absolutely spot on with what the exhaust note sounds like and the video does not do the sound justice. You are welcome and this is an inexpensive alternative to waking up the sedate sounding stock exhaust.Nice ! it kinda has that "porsche boxter" gurgle at idle and an authoritative note when you get on the gas. I am sure the video doesn't do it justice ? Great job and thanks for the video and audio posts !
That is a question I pondered when I was thinking how I wanted the project to turn out. This is a small displacement engine and I thought possibly that two mufflers might be overkill for the exhaust note. I did not want a pissed off weed whacker/hairdryer sound. Since I was the guinea pig for an exhaust upgrade for the GS, I had nothing to go on. No YouTube videos or any personal accounts of what sounds good to go by. I chanced it by purchasing one muffler, removing the stock mufflers/resonator and I am extremely happy with the result. Now that the muffler has broken in, it sounds even better. Why did you decide to go with one muffler instead of two? Not that I don't like the sound. Just curious.

A 2.0 liter four banger doesn't need two mufflers. With one muffler, you're deleting some weight
Yes it has broken in even more. Let me say to anyone wanting to wake up the sedate GS stock exhaust note, this is the way to go. I have had many people tell me the exhaust sounds really good. The primary comment is that it resembles the Porsche Boxster exhaust note. At idle, the car has a nice purr to it. Then when you lay into it, she wakes up quite nicely and sounds really good. IMO, this is how the car should have sounded directly from the factory. Regarding drone, there is zero in the interior. If I had to use the butt dyno as a gauge, between the K&N drop in filter and the new exhaust setup, the car feels slightly faster off the line and when rowing through the gears. Also, the sound of the turbo spooling up and releasing is awesome now. With the windows up or down, it sounds really good. Good luck with your exhaust project.Lets revive this thread, I will be ordering the trifecta tune tomorrow most likely. I am very interested in your opinion yet another month since your last post. has the muffler broken in even more? I am looking for a sound that is pretty close to stock at idle and just slightly louder on normal accel. im looking for the big change when your really get into it. Just wondering if the borla give you that. Or if anyone has any other ideas on mufflers. I love your setup, only thing im going to do different is get flanges welded on just incase there is too much drone. Last question, was there a noticeable power gain/loss?
