Noise from front passenger-side suspension...

I was curious to see if anyone responded to your query, which they haven't. I was the last poster on this topic and no one responded to my question. I presumed this was a problem with the 2011 and 2012s for the most part. There was a lot of discussion on this topic a year or two ago as you can see, but nothing since. I am surprised this problem has shown up again. I thought there must have been assembly line tolerances in the body/suspension that they have eliminated, and maybe they have at the Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant. There was the motor mount change up, which did nothing for the noise in my case. I have lived with this sound since I bought the car. Just two weeks ago I had the right upper strut mount and the strut replaced and it seemed somewhat better. But to be honest, I just had the car out for the day to get the work done as I lay it up for the winter, so the jury is out as to whether it really is much or any better. The tech and I discussed it and he feels I'll never get rid of it, he says there are several of the newer cars that have odd sensations and noises. There was some thought it is a harmonic issue, setting up the hollow noise, maybe that's why they replaced the motor mount. I love the car but this has been a real disappointment for me, but I am learning to chill out about it. It really hasn't been as bad the last year or so and seems to vary at times. So there you have my take on it. I wish you well in finding a solution, and if you do, please post about it.

I'm having the same issue as people have mentioned previously on my 2011 Regal. Initially I was told that there was nothing wrong and that I had time to come back later. A month goes by so I go back because it's still driving me crazy. I was told that this time I need new stabilizer bar links, which were ordered and replaced. Today I picked up my car and now the rattle noise is WORSE. I've just about had it so I call Buick customer service and am told that I'm eligible to be "upgraded to a senior service advisor", which told me that I needed to work with the dealer. I was also told that she would work toward a permanent solution but that one cannot be guaranteed. For me that's all I'm going to accept or GM can have the damn thing. This is not the only thing that I've had issues with and I'm at my wits end. I'll post back with my results as I'm to call the service manager in the morning for follow up. Wish me luck.

I was able to catch the car in the act so to speak. You'll need to turn it up to get over the road noise, but this is what I'm dealing with: http://youtu.be/Dm2PhSGYuTo

I've been having the same issue. I was told initially that there was nothing wrong, then that I needed new stabilizer bar links. I picked up the car yesterday only to find out that the issue is far WORSE. I called GM and was advised that they were going to try to get a permanent solution but that one can't be guaranteed. To be honest, that's all I'm willing to accept.

I made a YouTube video of the noise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm2PhSGYuTo You'll need to turn it up to get past the tire noise but it's definitely there.

I'm calling the service department at the dealership again today, so I'll post what happens with that.

I'm going in for this same exact problem next Tuesday... what a pain in the ass!! Knocking/clunking noise from the front passenger suspension at lower-mid speeds over any crack or bump in the road, turning into a parking lot, speed bump, etc. It has progressively gotten worse, I have 22,500 miles on it and have had it since day 1.

I can't ignore it anymore, it's getting louder and louder... I'll let you know my findings when I take it to the dealer. 😡

I've never had any of these problems, but I do remember another thread with strange noises, and some (many?) of them turned out to be axle nuts that were not tightened sufficiently. Seems the dealers were having a hell of a time diagnosing that problem.

It might not be the problem you guys are having, but I'd check the axle torque either myself or ask them to do it just to make sure this isn't your problem.

Good luck.

My '13 GS is currently at the dealer for this issue, among a few others. Just sitting here waiting for the call that they can't hear it. It's had it since we got it at 9700 miles back in May.

I would be happy to look into this for you. Please contact me privately with your case number or VIN for more assistance. Thank you.

Tricia, Buick Customer Service.

Tricia how do I open a case. I've been in 2 times for this same issue. The first time the dealer heard the noise and replaced my strut. When I got home my car still made the noise. I took it back and they spent 4 hours on it and claimed they couldn't hear anything this time. I'm at a loss and I'm tired of hearing this right side make noise. It's not on the freeway. It usually only happens in city driving. Please advise.

I took it in to the dealer today for this issue... just got the call, they replaced the stabilizer links on both the passenger (primarily where the noise was) AND driver side suspension.

I hope this takes care of the noise, I'll be picking it up in a few hours. He said they looked worn out though and replaced them under warranty.

Just an update... the suspension knocking noise from the front end (both sides) is totally gone! If you haven't already, anyone having this problem may want to have their dealer look at part # 13282833 which is the Stabilizer End Link. Of course, these were replaced under warranty.

Apparently both sides were shot, the slight noise started around 8-10K miles and got intolerable for me by 23K miles. A schematic of the bad part is in the attached picture, #5 in the diagram.

Seemed my steering tightened up a bit as well and the clunking when turning the wheel is also resolved.

Hope this helps!!

Since new I have had the same rattle/clunk over bumps sound. I couldn't isolate so I have not taken it in.
Anyone else here experience the same problem? My dealer was unable see a problem or replicate. I told them to try again. If they still cannot replicate, I will ask them to ride with me so I can point it out.

Also experienced the Service Suspension System indicator.

I came across this thread and wonder if there is any consensus as to the fix for the clunks mentioned by so many. I recently bought a 2013 GS and in the regular setting find the wheels very clunky over small bumps and imperfections in the road. Gets a bit better as tires warm up and there is no problem on the highway. If anyone can confirm what fixed their problem I would appreciate it before I go to the dealer.

well, what do ya know??!! I JUST took my car into the dealer today for this very issue. I KNEW it was the right front side strut assy grunting over speed bumps in my neighborhood. They say they solved it, but I still heard it coming into the neighborhood this afternoon!! A lil bit less, but it didnt solve it. Here's what GM said they did........

You can read my posts in this thread from a couple of years ago. I had mine finally fixed in January 2015. The dealer put in a new strut on the right side and an updated strut mount, which was probably the culprit. The car is such a joy to drive after having that hollow wobble sound fixed while going over a series of small bumps. If it keeps up suggest the same to your dealer. Mine was under warranty at the time. If off warranty, try it with just the strut mount. This is only recommended if you are certain your noise issue is the same as this thread's subject.

thank you kindly as it IS indeed under the CPO and GM warranty still! They just replaced the turbo so I'm thinking they aren't looking to spend too much more $$$ on my warranty! But then again, the dealership gets paid for the work and parts, so?!

I really appreciate all of the input on here! I'm taking my GS back to the dealer that I bought it from in late December. They are an hour from me and have agreed to give me a loaner. I intend to tell them to start replacing suspension parts until the car is as quiet as it is designed to be and not to bother calling me until it is 100%. I am totally disgusted that I have to deal with this on a certified vehicle with 10000 miles!

I guess Ill have to be a bit more insistent instead of being such an easy, smiling and happy customer all the time. Good luck and sorry you're troubled with this dilemma as well.

I have now been to two dealers and been told by both of them that everything is normal with my suspension. It is not normal. If someone from a major publication and/or Consumer Reports had my car in order to do a review of the 2013 Regal GS, the review would be such that Buick could not sell a single such vehicle. Cars are NOT supposed to make noise going over small bumps and inconsistencies in pavement - especially cars with low mileage that are otherwise in brand new condition. I sent an email to Buick last night to open a case - we will see if that does any good. In the meantime, I would greatly appreciate hearing from all of you that previously had similar suspension issues as to whether or not your "fix" actually provided a long-term cure or not.

Thanks!

Already contacted customer service and I took my car back to my dealer today. They found that the right strut is leaking oil and they will replace it next week

I friend of mine has a CTS V wagon and an Escalade. Both have the magnetic ride suspension and both have had the front struts leak with rather low mileage. Cadillac has taken care of these via their warranty.

My wife's 2011 Malibu has less than 30,000 miles on it and has the issue as well. Funny (kinda sad really) but my 2006 Saturn Vue with 270,000 miles on it does NOT have the issue.
