Tune.... IPF, Trifecta, HP Tuners

I know there are many but wondered why germans (place where Regal was designed) say that about weak rods.
Well, it just depends really. ... i noticed I need a catch can as im burning oil intermittently, bit im also revving out to 7500 rpm with the stage 3 cams n springs. Only time will tell, but so far the power is amazing and running great

out of curiousity , OPC or Turbo? 2.8 or 2.0

400whp is a lot to ask for on stock internals.. some cobalt owners might have run into no issues.. than others might have .. all depends on the driver and his right foot lol

for me? I dont want to see 400whp for a while..310-325 whp is my goal

Question for IPF - One of the things that drew me to IPF was them stressing reliability over performance. I personally didn't want to risk trailering my ride home after a little fun. I'm i right to assume they want you to change the rods for this reason? So that it's reliable under almost all conditions?

We have seen many broken connecting rods in engines even below 400hp, as low as 360 breaking rods. Its not just the HP its also the increased torque load. We recommend replacing the rods for any application pushing beyond 350 hp. Our engineers also race, not just push keys on a computer keyboard. We are making these recommendations based on experience in the industry, we have tuned over 20K vehicles globally and have done many turbo upgrades around the world. We are not here to argue anyone's opinion on what may or may not be possible. Sure there may be a 410 HP vehicle that hasn't broken a rod... But there's the right way to do things and the risky way, I'm not going to try it on my car. We're just passing along valuable information we see fit to share. : )

In other news, engineers are here in AZ, we're fitting a GS with a down pipe and inter-cooler and exhaust system next week. We are going to be putting together some multi-stage tuning and hardware upgrade packages as well. Stay tuned for more info coming shortly! Big things coming for the 2.0T A20NHT, A20NFT and LTG. : )

I do agree 100% with IPF guys.
Probably we may say that up to 355HP (310WHP according this : http://www.mk5cortinaestate.co.uk/calculator4.php) is a safe limit to tune the LDK, beyond that is at your own risk.

The next question is how to get to 350 safely. How many aftermarket parts and which ones so that we don't go over in any condition. Sounds like another question for IPF since they seem to have a good database on this.

My question is why does zzp state tne stock motor is good for 500whp, i wrote them 4 days ago... called, never heard from them

Zzp also told me that the stock turbo gasket would fit their downpipe -- and it does not. Installed without the gasket, which they confirmed is fine -- after 2 days of not hearing back from them

Very exciting stuff from IPF thanks guys. I'll pass this info on to the Saab community. Vermont Tuning has a pretty good flash on my LHU right now but I would love an exhaust package.

350 Crank HP, too many variables to determine by wheel HP for engine internals.

Hey guys wanted to give a small update on my regal and the tunes I have been using. I had IPF on my car for about 6 months until about three weeks ago when I switched back to trifectas 93 octane tune. Today I switched back to ipf and i immediately preferred it. Much more linear, less on off, and less hesitation at wot compared to trifecta. Both products are very good, I just seem to keep coming back preferring ipf.

I'm looking at getting a tune for my 2014 Regal turbo. I am torn between Trifecta and IPF. It sounds like IPF is a smoother tune. Does IPF tune the TCM like Trifecta does? Trifecta is $399 for the advantage tune and IPF right now is $499. Is IPF worth the extra money. I want a tune that I can just install and be done with it. Does Trifecta still have to have the cruise off to use it? I don't like the idea of constantly have to turn the cruise on and off.

Our Stage-1 tuning will yield similar gains to the elite version of the Trifecta software, we do not offer different tuning levels and of course we back your satisfaction with a 30 day money back guarantee. If you decide to go with more mods in the future i.e. downpipe or intercooler there are no additional fees for this service. Our GM experienced engineers have been tuning these cars in Germany for many, many years. Whit a plethora of R&D behind our software. Its an easy 15-02 minute process, just requires a PC and internet connection. Load your file and enjoy! its that simple. Many of our customers have reported the smooth power delivery and drivability of our tuning methods are preferred over any other self installed software solutions. And yes we do offer TCM with our tuning as well.

The site shows the IPF tune running $599. Is there a sale going on that takes it down to $499
