Sound System Issue

Has anyone been able to get an update on this. I had my software updated and still having this issue. I am hoping someone has some kind of fix for the volume fluctuation. A TSB would be nice....

I've been so busy with all the holiday stuff that I have not made it back to the dealer for this HK Amp issue. My service guy said he could flash the amp program, but he has not seen the problem as I am the first to report it to him, so it sounds like it will be a waste of my time right now until there is a Real GM Fix.

I did add an MTX Re-Q Signal Processor and amp for a Real Sub in my trunk, so the myth of the HK Amp shutting down over a change in the OHM load has been "De-Bunked" :headbang:

Customer Service...
Can you help us out here???

I am having the same issue. I leave my iPod plugged in and use it the majority of the time. I disabled the auto volume and there are times in songs where it gets insanely loud.

When would a good time be to bring this up with the dealership? I would prefer something from Buick that highlights the issue so they are aware.

Thanks...,

I would recommend keeping in contact with your local dealer for further updates. I can also look into this on my end with with the last eight of your VIN. Please feel free to contact me privately for further assistance.

Do you know of a TSB or anything? I have had it to the dealer and it's not the software.

still no fix after nearly 9 months of complaints about this issue? Has their been an official GM acknowledgment?

I hate the "Speed Compensation" feature, but I've used the lowest setting for the last few days and the volume is much more consistent.

My dealer does not have a solution yet and I was the first to report this issue.

Couldn't you turn this function off in most GM vehicles?

Throw me to the masses. I experience the same issue...although it is intermittent, is is really annoying when the stereo starts blasting. Another issue I am experienceing is I keep losing my favorites on my HDD. I have tried multiple times to set-up playlist and they will stick for several days then mysteriously dissapear ? Now my XM is doing something similar.....I lose my signal evertime I shut the car off. Not sure if these last two items are related but may have a problem with my power source ?

The first thing I did was turn it off. 😕
That is where I noticed the Randomness of the volume fluxuations. Sometimes it would get louder when you slowed to a stop, sometimes just vary when a new song started, sometimes adjust during a song even when the noise levels had not changed. 😡

The volume is better, at least in my car, when I use the "Low" speed compensation. I don't like it, but it is more logically predictable. 😕

Still puzzled...

I'm amazed there hasn't been a fix for this as of yet with so many vehicles having this problem. I don't let it get to me but would like to get it fixed.
Agreed... It is tolerable right now and I don't have time to take it into the dealer and have them tell me there is nothing wrong 😕

You all have the Harmon Kardon system? Does it matter if you have navigation or not?
I believe the issue is in the HK Amp software and I don't think the Nav Option has a role in the problem because I think they all use the same HK Amplifier.

He's no different than the rest. GM needs to come up with a fix so everyone can get this resolved. The fluctuating noise is the issue.

I took this in today and they want to replace the entire HK unit. There is a constant power source but seems to have some glitch with the ability to hold the XM "key" that re-initiates when starting. They did a bunch of trouble shooting and the answers appears to be a replacement. BTW, I also mentioned the amp (sound fluctuation) and they couldn't diagnose that either ? I did refer them to this thread ad asked if they would also replace the amp ? They are going to advise in the next couple of days. It would be great if we could get a TSB on this........

Hi! In the last 30 days I took ownership of a new 2011 T07 manufactured in 02/11. Great car! Though I too am having the same issue with the volume in the sound system fluctuating. Very glad I found this thread. I thought I was losing it. Please post if anybody hears a solution for this issue.

Until the solution is found, I have found it more tolerable using the speed compensation on "Low". It seems to be the "Least Annoying" way to listen.
