Noise from front passenger-side suspension...

My car started off just popping occasionally when turning the wheel. Now it does it all the time so the dealer had no problem hearing it. Try turning your wheel really fast from side to side while sitting still. You don't have to turn the wheel far at all just break the center and I bet it will do it consistently. My car always does it when I do this.

Having my right strut replaced today. Hoping it fix's the hollow clunking noise coming from that side. Fingers Crossed!

At least you guys are getting info from your dealers. My dealer has never mentioned the motor mount fix or updated strut mount. My car has had a strut and anper mount replaced several months ago, and now they claim they can't hear it at all. And GM customer service is the worst I've ever experienced.....a bunch of arrogant bastards.

Do you have a case regarding your concern. Please contact me with more information and I will be able to look into this for you as well. Thank you.

So GM sent the wrong strut. They sent the left strut in the right strut box. 😡

Well they installed the new updated strut mount to fix the popping noise when turning steering wheel. It fixed the problem for a few days but the noise is back. So the updated part didn't work and my suspension is still noisy over bumps.😡

After about a month, the noise is back on my car. They replaced the right side engine mount. While it doesn't rattle like it used to, the boom is still there when hitting square edged bumps.

I will be going back to the second dealer and have them investigate further, and fix the brakes, as when I slow down at a medium rate, the front rotors hum and mildly throb.

My car is being lemon lawed for this issue. Right now GM is trying to get me into a new Regal but I think I am going to pass.

My steering is bad now. It sounds like rubber on rubber contact while turning. The other day, after starting my car, I placed it in GS mode. As I pulled out of my parking spot, the car made a weird electrical noise, like a grounded short and the steering was real heavy. I pulled over and turned the steering wheel back and forth. Right before it if it to full lock, it made popping sounds like an automatic machine gun. This happened for left and right. I shut her down and restarted and it seemed to go away. I will be contacting GM about this. The steering still seems jacked up.

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

Any positive updates from those with the suspension noise? I have 2012 GS, built in November, bought a month ago, and I hear that hollow, wobble sound coming from the passenger side over certain bumps. It seems to be over smaller bumps and and sounds like a car with a loose ball joint. I must say it certainly takes away from the qualities of the rest of the car and makes the car feel cheap. Has GM actually have a solution for this or is it in the stages of replace this and that hoping it will go away? I haven't mentioned it to the dealer yet. Is it documented in any bulletins the techs can obtain?
Thanks

That exactly describes the sound I have as well. The dealership was unable to replicate.

The more I read about this, and the fact that even the NEW GS's have this same problem leads me to beleive its a design problem. Either the car wasn't designed for the 19 / 20 " rims it has on it, or there is some inherent problem in the mounting of the suspension....

If there is an issue with the suspension mounting, then there are several, since it seems both GS and Turbo owners are having issues. The mounting of the suspension on GS's is considerably different than on the turbo, they only really share the lower control arm and strut-top.

I'm not quite sure if everyone is having the same type of issues. My turbo is still fine, lets hope I don't get the same type of issues.

the suspension on my turbo is somewhat noisy...all four corners. more so than most cars i've owned. i think it's normal for this car?? 🙂
