My take is that GM should have not messed with the German Version: ie led taillights, rear Brembo brakes, folding power mirrors, 360 camera, rain sensing wipers, rear wiper, parallel parking, s/s off switch.....GM completely ruined a car that could have been a winner. I just do not understand their thought process!

Harsh. I’d say the car is a winner and I feel lucky they decided to bring it here and badge it Buick.

I’d be pissed if all I could do is read about the Insignia and not be able to purchase it.

Harsh? maybe you feel that way because you have not driven and seen in person the European version.

I had a GSi as a rental for 2 months while on vacation with the family....that is how I came to recognize the car when looking for something to replace my totaled Maserati Q. When I saw it I knew this was it.......and I assumed, my mistake, that GM just rebadged the car that I had in the EU. I feel we got shortchanged! The GSi is 10x the GS!

I like the front look but then when I see the shitty tail lights that the rest that did not make it to the US market i get pissed! my personal opinion......

I feel the way I feel because I feel that way. Couldn’t care less about the European version as we won’t get it here.

You seem to feel dramatic on the internets about a Buick. If you feel personally shortchanged then go buy something else?

My personal opinion... 😂

Probably should have taken a close look at the car and maybe even a test drive, before buying.

seems you like being shortchanged...........is there something else that you got shortchanged in? 🙂 ...more likely than not I will trade her in for something less shortchanged like an E400

Correct! it is entirely my fault for assuming that GM cannot f$%k up a good thing!.......I was wrong......but I only make a mistake one, so no US manufacturer ever again........unless I am going back to a 71 Ford Mustang!

I'm guessing he means he paid 2/3 of MSRP. Using round numbers on a full loaded Essence that would be 28k on a 42k sticker which sounds pretty near the under 30k. That would be a 1/3 discount rather than 2/3 so probably just a little misspeak on the math.

That’s correct; I poorly phrased it in the rush of forum browsing at work. The purchase price was discounted to a total paid of 2/3 the MSRP.

Had we persevered in the original plan of finding an AWD Volvo V60 we would have paid twice as much as the TourX. There are few examples for sale of the 2019 refresh and Volvo will not qualify the standard V60 with the EPA in AWD form for 2020. The nicer styling of the 2019 V60 (subjective), interior material quality, more power (only T6 models were produced with AWD for 2019), and some additional options are not worth twice the cost.

Well, they had to cut corners somewhere to be able to lower the price enough so that it would sell in the US.

it that were the case then why reengineer a car that is already being built. Changing the equipment to build the US model must have cost a lot more than they could save! I think shit like this is another reason GM isnt doing to hot these days

The price in Germany for the GSi is 35,655 Euro plus tax.

We picked up a carryover '18 for my wife in Kansas City on Monday night. Essence trim, pano sunroof, both drivers confidence package in White Frost. We also scored a 2/3 discount from the sticker.

The wife had planned to upgrade to the new Volvo V60. However, Volvo decided only cross country models will have AWD for 2020 in the US. The 2019 V60 run was extremely small; no deals to be found. I'm happy to pay under $30k for fully loaded over what a new Volvo would have cost!
Sweet! Also tried to deal on a Volvo v60 and nobody wanted to budge...Welcome!

Not sure where you're getting this price from. Looking at the configurator on opel.de, starting price of GSi is 46k EUR, and that's for a base version. Optioned out with all the niceties that you mentioned, you'll be way past 50k EUR.

That's approximately the equivalent to $41K+ US and I for one don't feel shortchanged having paid about 75% of that total for a top trim really well spec'd 250 hp AWD wagon from Germany regardless of the badge.

GM has been screwing up since 1953 when they picked the Corvette over the much better F88 or Bonneville Special.

That's pretty much it. Buick wouldn't be able to get the price they'd want with it fully dolled up. Too many other choices when you hit the $45-$50K mark with brands that can command those prices. Even fully loaded I doubt many would be willing to pay $45K for the Buick, let alone $50K. Subaru Outback buyers are the target because of the price point being similar. The Subaru doesn't offer a lot of higher end options on the Outback. But that will change some with the 2020 Outback on the Global Platform and the 2.4 turbo offered. At the same time they are going to be offering more upscale features, like vented seats and higher end materials on the interior. Buick doesn't have a counter to that and probably won't update the TourX to compete with it. I hope I'm wrong but I think it will be an orphaned model by 2021 which is why I grabbed one now.

I too would have loved all the features they had over in Europe but if I am being honest I am not sure I would have bought a Buick at that price. This is my first Buick, hell it is my first GM product. Since they are trying to grow the brand and actively get a younger audience I think they need to be smart and not price the vehicle so high that people aren't willing to take the chance on Buick. I do think the MSRP is too high for what they are offering and I think that does scare some away. It kept me away from the TourX for a year, it wasn't until I heard about the heavy discounts that it came back on my radar.

I'm 99% sure by selling them at discounts around 30% off MSRP, dealers are pretty much getting rid of possible future costs than trying to earn anything from it.

I think the Finical & Marketing people at GM cut off their own noses with the Regal & TourX, as the discounts and sales level this low could have been avoiding coming in initially with a competitive MSRP, Proper Option Packages & Trims, and some honest good Advertising.
Thank you GM for selling me a car at such a good price. Great way to loose your shirt.

Two days ago, we paid 25% off MSRP for a loaded '18 Essence. I am sure we would not have looked at it if it was not discounted. Either that makes us bargain hunters, or the price was off to begin with, or a bit of both. Actually, we always look for value, and at the price we paid, we felt it was a great value.

2018 model with 2018 price.....the 2019 are higher due to new emission regulation placed on cars + higher taxes due to their immigration issues
