TSB 19-NA-100 Radio Software Version 22.8 and TSB 19-NA-249 Favorites Grayed Out- Nov 4, 2019

Sounds like my crappy dealer. The told me they installed it but they never did. I had brought the car in on a Saturday and I found out later that GM does not download on Saturday. So I later brought it in on a weekday and they managed to install it.

I had 22.9 installed today while I was in for an oil change. At first they called and told me it was ready. Got there and found out it hadn't been updated at all. Told them it should be on v. 22.9 and they tried again. I waited at the dealership for 1.5 hours before they said it was giving them trouble and they offered to bring me back to work. Took another hour and a half after that until it was ready. Now appears to be there - will see what the drive home tonight brings.

For anyone having trouble after the 22.9 install, I read on the FB forum that you can go into Settings and hit something like Reset to Factory Settings -- apparently this fixes some continuing woes even after the update. You'll need to reset your Driver 1-2 seat and all other settings, etc. Which as I recall, the manual was little to no help with a lot of these, especially the seat settings so just a reminder there. FWIW. I still need to get my 18.5 updated to 22.9. Seems to me there's no reason we just can't do it via wifi at home. Tesla sends out updates all the friggin' time. GM. Sigh.

Supposedly the 22.9 update is too big of a file to send OTA, for whatever reason. I have had the radio apps update OTA so I know it works in principle. My radio wouldn't take the 22.9 update after 2 tries at the dealer, they called GM for resolution and ended up replacing the whole radio and now it's at the 22.9 version so I have my live traffic back.

The reason they won’t do an OTA update is the worry that someone may get bored and turn the car off mid-update. Or the battery in the car discharges because the person didn’t turn off the headlights and climate control.

it took 1.5 hours for my update and the TSB specifically stated to hook up a slave battery, not a charger.

like any computer if you stop it mid-update you could have a brick.

Thanks guys, I get that stuff. Not bagging on what you guys are saying, but again, Tesla manages to do it.

from the site above:
Can I drive my car during a software update?
During a software update, you are unable to drive your car as a safety measure. We recommend scheduling software update installations when your car is not needed for driving.

Can I cancel a software update once it begins? How do I resume when I am ready?
You cannot cancel a software update once it has started.

Will my car charge while installing new software?
Your car will not charge while installing an over-the-air update. If you install a software update while charging, your car will stop charging during the update and will automatically resume charging once the update is complete.

Perhaps Teslas being plugged in makes all the difference in being able to deliver these updates, but I saw nothing about being required to plug in. PITA to spend an extra 90 minutes at dealer for this. Just venting here. It is what it is. Thanks again for the replies.

FYI:
The car needs to be turned off for the install to initiate. Ignition will be blocked during the installation until completion. Headlights will turn themselves off after 10 minutes (page 167 of our owner's manual) whether the vehicle is updating or not anyway. Climate control would be off, since the vehicle is off during the installation.

Non-update update. TAC told the dealer to order a new SD card for my car. That didn't fix it; still no speed limit displayed in the DIC 🙄

I had to return to the dealer yesterday to have my new wheel stud and lug nut installed (cross-threaded from the factory!) and I asked them to see if they could find a TSB for the "no speed limit displayed" issue. Even though I'd just had the 22.9 update last week, they told me that my system was "taking" another software update so MAYBE that would fix the issue. 2 hours later and no, it didn't. They told me that a GM engineer will now be contacted to see if a resolution can be found. I have not yet tried the "factory reset" to see if that might solve the issue.

Finally! We have speed limits in the DIC. TAC finally said to just replace the cluster and it works... something we could have done a year ago...

Did I read that right, they can't download the update on a weekend? Can I assume they can get it on a weekday instead? Weekends are the only time I can drop my car off right now...I have an appt this Saturday for the 22.9 update, mine has 21.1 on it. Dealer didn't know what I was talking about either when I called about it...

That is what my dealer told me - weekdays only. I have no idea if that is true or not, just taking his word for it.

When I brought the car in to get 22.9 installed, he seemed more interested in finding out how I knew about the service bulletin then he did on actually implementing the service bulletin. But they did end up installing it (on a weekday).

I have since decided to go to a different dealer because these guys are pretty slack.

"Replace the cluster" - do you know what exactly that involves as far as tearing the instrument panel apart? I really don't think I'd want to have that done just to see the speed limit displayed.

It's not invasive at all. It just pulls out from the front.

How did you find out about the bulletin? haha this magic thing called the internet, he should check it out sometime. And TSBs arnt exactly secret info

all I want is the speed limit in the DIC.....too much to ask!!

Does anybody have a clock in the DIC? I have not updated to 22.9.

Don't need 22.9 to have the clock in the instrument panel/cluster.
There is a setting to turn that on.

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention that - there are several pre-set configurations.
